Re: Resources for learning about audio editing

I would start with the Audacity Wiki/Tutorials/FAQ/Manual- see: http://audacityteam.org/help/

You can learn a lot from these resources.

Re: Click/pop removal - ClickRepair software

Further appraisal - a month-and-a-half on. Having used ClickRepair for a month an a half now I justed wanted to add a few further comments. I am still delighted with the software - it saves me a lot of time. Most of the time it yields excellent results on my LPS, many of which I have had for 30-40 ...

Re: noise interference on 45rpm

Yes you should leave it in Line Out mode if you are going to connect directly to your computer's sound card. If you set it to phono you would need a preamp between the deck and the computer. And yes continue to use Audacity. Sorry, can't comment on Macs - as I'm a PC user. Let us know how you get on...

Re: Stereo

Which USb TT? If it is an ION or a Numark you should have a pair of RCA cables attached to the deck. If you have a hi-fi or a compact audio with a phono or Aux input you can then test ther to see if you are getting 2 channels properly. It is possible that you have a fault with your USB connector - o...

Re: START AND END OF RECORDING POPS

AM I MISSIN SOMETHING You seem to missing the use of the "Caps Lock" key - please don't shout like that, writing in all caps actually makes the message harder to read .... Note to Koz: there are some non_USB TTs out there with preamps built in (done to compensate for the fact that ...

Re: Config file location

Sorry I can't help you with the Registry stuff - I never go there muyself - too much Dark Magic for me ! Actually 1.3 is pretty stable now (in spite of the dire "Unstable" warning). I now use it all the time with no problems - but my uses are limited to LP/tape digitization and restoration...

Re: Config file location

In 1.2.6 it is stored in the Windows Registry. For Macs and for all users in 1.3 (and the upcoming 1.4) there is a confifiguration file stored in the user record.

So I think that you therefore have a problem achieving what you need with 1.2

Re: Album Artist tag for MP3s

iTunes (in its later versions) has both Artist and Album Artist. My uunderstanding is that Artist can be used for the indivdual artist on a track - while Album Artist is used for the whole Album - so for example you may have Album Artist as The Beatles and Artist on the tracks a John, Paul, George o...

Re: Audacity files gobbling up my hard disk!

He doesn't need to bother with backing up projects as IIRC from previous postings Peter S' application is straightforward LP/tape transcription/repair. As such he should only ever have a single stereo track - so a simple export and backup of a WAV file should suffice. It's also more portable between...
