Re: breathing into mic
You can either buy what is known as a "pop shield" - or you can make one yourself from a wire coathager made into a big loop and covered with material from tights/pantyhose. The shield to be placed between you and the mic.

Re: Do WAV to CDA conversions commonly go bad?
comcon, I have burned around 100 CD-Rs so far from WAV files exported from Audacity. All, with one exception, play perfectly ok on both my main hi-fi and my mini-system. I always test them after creation (just to be sure ....). Several of them have played ok in my car - all the ones that I tried, th...

To make a "proper" CD you will need to export WAV files (at 44.1kHz stereo 16-bit PCM - the Red Book standard for CDs). It is possible to make a CD with MP3s but you will need computer of special CD player to play them. You need MP3s (or sililar) if you want compressed music files for a po...

Me too - indeed I was about to invest in a high-spec remaindered laptop in John Lewis recently, until I remembered to ask the salesman which O/s was on it - Vista with no option to "downgrade" to XP - so I said no thankyou. But I note from reading the article that a Vista route for me in t...

Re: Draft
I'll be sticking with XP (for as long as it's usable) and Linux (hope we get good Jack support in Audacity soon). Re: Start Again...
Did you use any special characteres like / in the label - special characters are not allowed in labels - and what's more you don't get a sensible error message from Audacity telling you so, it just drops the track and normally all subsequent tracks.
