Re: Converting tracks to a email

You will need to Export the track once you have created it. For email will normally need a smallish file, so I would suggest Exporting as MP3.

You can then send the MP3 as an attachment in your email.

Re: Rate or Speed?

You can select the track and use the Audacity Effect>Change Speed to permanently change the speed at which this track plays. But it sounds as though you have a sample rate conflict that you need to sort out - so that you can record and playback at the correct speeds right off - so you don't get this...

Re: save as and save

Ah yes.... and the original sound clips - a good point Koz. However it is possible to avoid this issue by setting your Audacity preferences so that Audacity makes its own copy of the original sound clips and files - and is thus the project is fully self-contained ad is no longer dependent on them. S...

Re: File No longer Linked,

You didn't use the evil term "USB" in any of your posts. Is that an oversight? Audacity doesn't much like USB audio equipment. Koz USB kit often works fine with Audacity - a lot of the problems are down to poor USB connectors. I used to run an ION TT through USB worked fine (but too much ...

Re: Removing Pops, Clicks, And Noise From Vinyl

Jist as Koz says above - all you need to do, Ian, is to select the portion of Audio you want the effect applied to (CTRL-A to select the whole track) - and the the effects should no longer ge greyed-out. Audacity defaults to nothing selected - hence the grey.

Re: save as and save

Save As and Save do basically the same ting - the only difference being that Save As lets you file under a different project name (if fo example you may want a second copy of the same project - so that you can diverge the projects - or you may want to keep a backup copy at a known state). When you s...

Re: File No longer Linked,

You should NEVER be attempting to manipulate the individual .au files. Theye are linked and controlled by the .aup file that you created when you SAVEd the project. You should then on subsequent uses open the .aup file. Audacity projects are fragile little beings sometimes, that don't take kindly to...

Re: Microphone input to MacBook

The old mic that I bought for use with my MD recorder (ECM-MS907) works fine for recording voice with my USB soundcard (Edirol UA-1EX) which has a mic input - I am not running on a MAC, but on Windows XP-HE.

Excellent point n0ctis - and you can even set up iTunes to rip WAV files from a CD

Re: Poor sound quality recording acoustic guitar

I'm not sure what type of sound quality to expect from a free program. Does Audacity generally give good quality recording results? Sorry I can't comment on your particular sound card - but yes you should expect Audacity to produce truly excellent results when set up and used properly. Hopefully so...
