Re: How to select only one channel
You need to split the stereo track. In the track control box click on the downward pointing black triangle . You will see a slection Split Stereo Track - click on this and you will get to single tracks which you can manipulate individually. Once you've completed the edits you can remake them into a ...

Re: Vinyl to CD - RIAA equalization
You can apply RIAA equalisation in Audacity through the Effects menu, but only after recording. However it is generally thought to be MUCH better to do the RIAA in hardware via a pre-amp prior to recording - rather than doing it in software. From looking at the specs of the iMic on t'interweb it doe...

Re: Distortion with a usb turntable HELP!!
RDB,
you can try forgetting about the USB connection and plug the RCA leads to your computer's soundcard via the Line-in. You will need a cable to go RCA to mini-jack.

Re: 1.3.4 crashing at 1hr 28 min of audio capture?

Not when the silence occurs - but you should be able to use the timer record facility in 1.3 to terminate recording after a specified time. Simply go to Tracks>Timer Record and you wi...

Re: Mp3 - larger after editing.
<Well you must have better hearing than I. > or possibly just better speakers and headphones :) <Is there a linear relationship between bitrate and file size?> I think probably not. I think that it's like many things in life a law of diminishing returns applies. When I first got an iPod I experiment...

Re: No pause between tracks
Even commerciallly produced CD's break this Red Book rule when appropriate - e.g. Sgt. Pepperkozikowski wrote:Can we assume you mean no gap on the music CD? Standard Red Book Music CD specifications put a 2-second gap between music selections.

Re: Mp3 - larger after editing.
Hi WC, I guess my system (windows me) doesn't give bitrates. However I downloaded a little app. which told me what you had suspected i.e. that the unedited mp3 was indeed 64 kbits/s. So, I guess that explains the increase in file size. Questions. 1) I can't tell the difference between the 128 bitra...

Re: allow to close the last file without closing the whole A
Go to Edit>Preferences>Interface and uncheck "Quit Audacity upon closing last window" - and that should fix this for you
