Re: No Input Device Selection

Perhaps you have answered a question of mine. My external sound card (M-Audio FastTrack USB) has a mixer knob. Might that be why that drop down in the MIxer bar is grayed out? I want to generate a click track, then have it playing while I record from my guitar. I have selected the M-Audio device un...

Re: Audacity could use a facelift and why not?

I much prefer the former ice-cool look that you had earlier in this thread, fractalorangejuice, gives Auadacity a nice look.

I'm not sure that the re-skin facility is still available in the latest version of the Beta/Production s/w......

Re: Any recommendations for a pre-amp/preamp

A good amp will indeed shut itself down if it gets overheated. Perhaps you had something covering the vents? It's certainly possible Andy - my cats have a penchant for laying on top of the amp (they've sussed that it's nice and warm) - and the Maine Coon boy is very large and fairly hairy. Keeping ...

Re: Vinyl to CD - RIAA equalization

I need a preamp...... As you can see from a very recent post of mine on the "Recording Equipment" section of the forum, I thought late yesterday that I would need a new pre-amp (mine appeared to die yesterday) - so I posted a thread asking for recommendations - you might want to watch thi...

Gave it a good night's sllep and it fired up lik a good 'un

Hooray, hooray, After having powered the unit down last night and unplagged it from the mains and left it for 12 hours - I plugged it in again this morning, pressed the power switch and lo and behold: on come all the fairy lights and switching facility is fully restored. I did try "re-boot"...

Re: Any recommendations for a pre-amp/preamp

Hi Steve, thanks for the quick reply. Our old Technics SU-X902 is an integrated jobbie also with a direct output from the pre-amp, like your Sony. And up till now it has worked extremely well delivering good results. When it gets properly light again tomorro, I'll open it up to see if there's anythi...

Any recommendations for a pre-amp/preamp

Arghhhh ..... my trusty old Technics amp/pre-amp (my wife's amp actually) is dying ..... the light s are out, but it still passes power throgh to the FM tuner and the tuner signal can be sent on to soundcard/Audacity - so I can still record FM radio. BUT I can't switch the device to phono - so no mo...

Re: McCrypt USB Turntable Adaptor

There are some reasonably cheap pre-amps around for Phono TT conenction, that do the RIAA equalisation. Some people need them for connecting a TT to a new amp that doen't have TT/phono input. There have been several postings, including some with recommendations of h/w - try Searching the forum ........

Re: Import DAT files to Audacity?

My external USB soundcard (Edirol UA-1EX) has a digital input - I used it to transcribe my minidiscs to avoid doing DAC=>ADC repeat conversion so that I could go straight digital , it worked a treat.

So should work for DAT too, in situations where your computer doesn't have a digital input.
