Re: Sliding tracks around

Yes, I believe that you are right - Audacity apperas to act differently in 1.2 and in 1.3 - I have just tested in both. In 1.2 Audacity appears to totally ignore the selection and will only move one track at a time with the Time-Shift tool. Even if you select the whole project with CTRL-A, even then...

Re: preserve the envelope?

You can't have two Audacities open at once. Koz More accurately, you can't have two 1.2 Audacities open - in 1.3 you can. Nor can you open a 1.3 and then a 1.2. I'm not sure how robust the data structures are for heavy multiple use in 1.3 - but I do use it sometimes for cutting and pasting bewteen ...

Re: Open a project that failed to save

Comcon,

I just tested again and I definitely do get that box - BUT I am now using 1.3 all the time.

Update: I did find an old 1.2.4 recording and re-saved that and did not get the elapsed/remaining time box - so maybe it's a 1.3/1.4 additional feature?

Re: Beta ver 1.3.4 (timer record)

Can't comment on the Linx/Unix variant - but on Widows XP-HE it works fine (except the interface has some litlle glitches - e.g. th waiting to record dialog box is still present long after the recording has finished)

Re: Re Sliding tracks

kdoc, I have posted a copy of your extended explanation back to your original thread where it belongs, link to it here: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3219&p=12683#p12683 Please don't double-post, or diverge threads - it makes the forum very difficult to follow. And pleas...

Re: Sliding tracks around

Relocating kdoc's post from another disparate thread - where this thread theme was replicated OK let's get more specific. Here's what I do. I drag the cursor from the beginning of one track down through the tracks below it, to the end of the last track I want to move. (Or I shift click two or more ...

Re: Recording problem

Many of us use external USB soundcards with very good results. I myself use the Edirol UA-1EX for LP/tape/MD transcription and recording from FM. The other card that gets mentioned a lot on the forum is the Behringer UCA202. The Edirol is more expensive than the Behringer, but has a few more feature...

Re: Ringtone file size too large!!??!?

In order to re-set the rate in the dropdown (and indeed to export MP3) you need to have LAME installed properly and have Audacity pointing at it.

Re: Ringtone file size too large!!??!?

Yes, you can try reducing the exported bitrate of the MP3 - Audacity default is 128 (which is the minimum for proper music). For a ringtone you should be ok going a bit lower.

Go to Edit > Preferences > File Formats - you should see a drop-down which will let you reset the MP3 bitrate.
