Re: Audacity version 1.2.5 crashes when recording 24 bits.

The two devices to look at are: Behringer UCA202 Edirol UA-1EX Both seem to work well with Audacity (I use the Edirol, Stevetheftiddle IIRC uses the UCA202) - the Behringer is cheaper but the Edirol has more features/functionality. These are both USB devices - I believe that there may be similar fir...

Re: spilt MP3 file without re-encoding...

Actally Audacity converts the file into its own complicated file structure - but this is also uncompressed like WAV. You would be better off tring to find a piece of s/w which will just split/trim the MP3 file directly - IIRC there have been some earlier posts about this so if you use the Search fun...

Re: Recording more than one track

You'll find lots of usful info at: http://audacityteam.org/help/ There is a manual there, and you should find the tutorials useful too. The wiki has tons of useful stuff as well. BTW: you have posted two copies of this, both on this section of the forum - can you try to delete the other one. WC

Re: Will Audacity work on a stand-alone digital file?

I found both full specs and full manuals for both the Edirol and Behringer devices on their web-sites before I bought the devices. Most manufacturers these days seldom bother to supply full manuals with products - but rely on publishing them on t'interweb instead. The Edirol has RCA inputs and outpu...

Re: Exporting aup. to wav. problems

A workaround would be to find a piece of sotware that will play the files (do they play in WMP?) - and record them in Audacity.

Re: recovery

Oops ... But yes you are right - the Recovery processs is much improved in V1.3 Beta versions - so you may wish to consider shifting to 1.3 anyway. Don't be scared off ny the "unstable" warnings - 1.3 is now in it's later releases and most of the early bugs have been fixed - the developers...

Re: Will Audacity work on a stand-alone digital file?

My Edirol UA-1EX is normally connected to the PC before I boot up and the PC (Windows XP-HE-SP2) & Audacity recognize it with no further action from me. Similarly if I boot up without it connected - it also gets recognized. You may just have to twiddle the Audacity parameters so that output goes...

Re: No Line In/micro interface

Many of us us external USB soundcards very successfully with Audacity. I myself use the Edirol UA-1EX. The other one that gets mentioned a lot on the forum is the Behringer UCA202. The Behringer is cheaper - the Edirol has a bit more features/functionality. Both firms are very helpful if you call th...

Re: Will Audacity work on a stand-alone digital file?

Hi Koz, luckily I don't have any Artie Shaw on vinyl ......... I do take your point about the 80/20 and I'm also acutely conscious that the people we see on the forum are the people with problems getting it all to work. But I do note that there are also plenty of folks with analog connections to the...
