Re: Compling a string of mp3's into one

All you need to do is to move your cursor to the end of the track(s) before importing the next one - tip: use the double-headed right-facing arrow icon that looks like the FF on tape decks/VHS/CD players. If you then import the next track will be after the other(s). Repeat. Or: you can select tracks...

Re: Missing Project Menu

An what's more - Mix & Render in 1.3.4 now works properly by obeying the mute/solo buttons on the track control boxes - in 1.2 this was a bug.

Re: Automatically stop recording?

You can't in 1.2 - but in 1.3 there is a new feature which enables you to set a Timer Record. This enables you to stop recording at a certain time - or set a future start/stop record event.

AFAIK there is no facility in 1.2 or 1.3 to stop recording on a sustained period of silence.

Re: 78 rpm records

Also be aware that 78's use different RIAA equalization to vinyl recordings. In fact there are several different RIAA curves used by different 78 manufacturers - there were no standards back then. So you may need to turn off RIAA when you record the 78s - if you plug your TT into a preamp line-input...

Re: No Control Over Input Volume?

Yes that does seem to be a dumb user-interface design from ION - it's worse on the turntable, where the little knurled knob is underneath the deck at the back- almost impossible to adjust safely while a record is playing on the deck (which, of course, is exactly when you need to adjust it!). To move...

Re: No Control Over Input Volume?

You've lost the input options menu because you have plugged in a USB device - and Audacity knows that this single path from the soundcard in the tapedeck is the one that is needed. If you unplug the USB you should get your input options back again. Sorry I overlooked this point of yours in your firs...

Re: No Control Over Input Volume?

The ION USB turntables have a gain control to manage the output level of the signal. I would guess that ION are using very similar electronics and thet therefore you could possibly have a gain control on the tape deck. On the TT it is "hidden" in an awkward place - have a good look at your...

Re: File export as wav

I would export at 44.1kHz 16-bit PCM stereo - this is the Red Book Standard for CD's and works with WMP too.

Re: Removing Scratches

I used to do this manually using zooming in and the excellent repair tool in Audacity v1.3 - but eventually I got bored so found a piece of s/w to do the job for me - it costs US$40 - but it is well worth it I think.

Re: Missing letters in labels

I think you may just have to settle for exporting from Audacity with "simplified" labels - and then editing the filnames (and ID3 tags if you are using MP3) after export. You can do this with Windows Explorer.
