Re: transfering aup,s to itunes
Yes people have done this (not me personally) but there are postings on the forum that indicate success with 78's Point's to watch for: 1) DON'T clean them with any alcohol-based solvent 2) You need a special stylus designed for 78's - the're bigger and fatter than stereo vinyl styli 3) if you do no...

Re: Converting tape to digital: muffled sine wave effect on
Yup cleaning the drive of the deck will likely help. But if you have had the deck for some time then the rubber parts may have perished or hardened (I had my Nakamichi professionally overhauled before I tackled digitizing my tapes).
Good luck - hope you get it to work

Re: Export Multiple after labelling
have you tried moving the cursor to the very beginning of the recording (for the first label) by using the left-facinng double arrowhead icon (like the fast rewind on a tapedeck or CD player)?

Re: removing chirps from guitar recording
This is where we stop and point out that nobody so far has told you how to get rid of it in post...because you can't. Koz And even the great classical players get these chirps from time to time. Listening carefully to recordings by Segovia, Julian Bream and John Williams all reveal the occasional c...

Re: Removing tracks
Yes, just select what you want to remove and click Edit>Delete (k/b shortcut CTRL+K). Be careful if you have a label track as well as an Audio track - if you selct just one of them the tracks will not align any more. So what you need to do in this case is to select both the Audio and the label track...

Re: Any recommendations for a pre-amp/preamp
Arghhhh ..... my trusty old Technics amp/pre-amp (my wife's amp actually) is dying ..... the lights are out, but it still passes power through to the FM tuner and the tuner signal can be sent on to soundcard/Audacity - so I can still record FM radio. BUT I can't switch the device to phono - so no m...

Re: Unable to find device
I think that you need to contact the supplier of the USB TT (you don't say which make/model it is). I would expect the input selector box in Audacity to be greyed out in Audacity with a USB TT connected - as there is then a single audio path and Audacity recognizes that and acts accordingly. If you ...

Re: Strange Sounds
I used to use the Repair function in 1.3 which Steve suggests - it worked extremely well, but as he also says takes a lot if time.
So I now use a software tool (ClickRepair) see this thread: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1994

Re: vista - incomplete or corrupting of MP3 files
This is what normally happens when you load a filetype that is not supported by Audacity. Are you sure that it is an MP3 - you mention iTunes so it's a possibility that you have the file in Apple's AAC format? If so you can convert the file back to WAV - iTunes can do that for you - and then open it...

Re: Converting tape to digital: muffled sine wave effect on
Are you playing these problem tapes on a different tape deck to the one on which they were recorded - or maybe you have had the deck serviced?
Tapes can be sensitive to the alignment of the record/replay tape heads - so it is often best to play them back on the machine that recorded them.
