Re: Mic Mate recording
and if it's my soundcard what can I do if I want to keep working on my laptop? You can always buy an external USB soundcard - two that get recommended a lot are the Behringer UCA202 and the Edirol UA-1EX. The Behringer is cheaper - the Edirol has more features - both work well with Audacity. Stevet...

Re: "Blending" songs (?)
I'ts likely that it's your MP3 player thats adding an inter-track gap. There is probably a setting somewhere that enables you to over-ride the gap and play the album continuously - iTunes/iPod for example has just such a setting, which needs to be made per album.

Re: Recording from an Audio Tape
Depending on how many tapes you have - it's probably a good idea to have your tape deck serviced. The rubber parts used in the transport tend to harden, crack and deform over a period of time. This can be a cause of the speed changes you are experiencing. I had my Nakamichi serviced before I did my ...

Edit > Preferences > File Formats will get you a dialog box where you can set the MP3 export bitrate (provided that you have already installed LAME and pointed Audacity to it).

Re: Inserting Intro Music
I assume that when you import the mp3 music Audacity creates it in a second trak starting at the same time as your recorded podcast? If so, then all you need to do is: 1) select the podcast trak (click in its track control box at the left end of the track) 2) click on the Time Shift tool (the icon w...

Before you give up - are you absolutely sure that you deleted the .aup file?

Re: Low Playback Level - even after normalize and amplify
have you tried what I suggested in the last post - and exported to a different filename and tested that? When I make WAVs and MP3s with Audacity and play them in iTunes an iPod they tend to be louder than commecial recodings (both ripped from CD and bought from the iTunes store) - so I don't underst...

Re: audio quality
If you have reasonably good ears and reasinably good equipment - the MP3s at 128 will not be as good as the original CDs. 256 would be much better - close to CD quality. Turning your MP3s into WAVs will not add back the missing audio that was thrown away when the Mp3 was originally compressed - it's...

Or a copy of iTunes windows version (downloadable free) on your PCs.kozikowski wrote: but it's good to have either Macs or QuickTime at both ends of the job for that.

Re: Low Playback Level - even after normalize and amplify
Are you sure your MP3 player (or the player-software on your puter) is not interfering with the playback levels. iPods, for example, have a setting which tries to average out the sound levels for all tracks on the iPod. The other thing I would try would be to export the WAV/MP3 to a slightly differe...
