Re: blending 2 tracks - cross fade?

I think that you will need to overlap the tracks as now - then select the fadeportion of track 1 and fade it out - then select the portion required of track 2 and fade it in. Audacity will mix the tracks into a "cross-fade" when you export - or if you play the two tracks. IIRC some people ...

Re: Any recommendations for a pre-amp/preamp

The RCA cables that I bought have a directional arrow on them - I did ring the manfacturer to say "are you serious?". They meekly replied that they thought it was nonsense too and were taking it off their future cables... Andy: yes 200 is a bit daunting - I have already completed aro...

Re: sound cards

I use the Edirol UA-1EX USB soundcard for my vinyl/tape/MD conversions and to record off-air from FM radio - it gives very good results. An alternative that gets mentioned favourably on these forums is the Behringer UCA202. The Behringer is cheaper - the Edirol has more functionality/features - you ...

Re: Any recommendations for a pre-amp/preamp

Andy, good points - my contacts only have to last for 18-months to two years till I finally finish my vinyl conversion project - almost finished mine in fact, then I move on to my wife's 150-200 albums or so .... :)

thanks for this tip RHA - BTW: this should also work on a PC as iTunes works fine on PCs (as all iPod/PC owners know)

Re: Converting WAV to FLAC

Yes - its called Audacity 1.3.x

The Beta 1.3 (which incidentally is fairly stable now despite the dire warnings on the download site) enables you to export from Audacity as FLAC.

Re: Crash when recording to project.

Looks more like Audacity is struggling with the mixture of mono and stereo tracks. Which is odd as I can mix both on my Audacity 1.3 and 1.2 - just tested both.

Tuoppi: you say both tracks are 44.1kHz - are they both the same bitrate too? This could possibly be the cause ...

Re: Records LPs & 45s but only left track of tapes

If you plug headphones into your tape deck do you get both a left and right channel? If so then it is likely thay the cabling is suspect somewhere - either your link tapedeck to ION or the internal wiring in the ION itself from the 1/8" input socket to the internal soundcard in the ION. A good ...

Re: multiple tracks always record previous tracks

Use the "Mute" button in the track control boxes to mute the tracks you don't want to hear. You are working with 1.3, I assume since you posted in this section - therefore on export the mute should still be honoured by Audacity and muted tracks will not be exported - there is a known bug i...
