Re: Any recommendations for a pre-amp/preamp

Udate on the ART DJ PRE II preamp. Just a brief update on the pre-amp that I bought a week or so ago, now that I have been using it for a little while. I am still very impressed with the performance of this little pre-amp - and it has reduced the clutter on my desktop. I am now very glad that I boug...

Re: Help!!!

Yes but, no but .... You don't actually get your MP3 in Audacity - when you import or open an MP3 in Audacity, Audacity "adds water" to it to turn it into an Audacity project - .aup and .au files. So AFAIK it retains no knowledge of the bitrate of your imported MP3 - which means that you w...

Re: multiple tracks always record previous tracks

Ah, I think I understand better what you are asking now. What you need to do is to go to Edit >Preferences > Audio I/O and uncheck the box that says Software Playthrough (play new track while recording it) - and make sure that the box above Play other tracks while recording new one is checked on (an...

Re: Help!!!

I don't thinh that you can do this with Audacity - however you should be able to do it with the O/S of your computer. Windows you can use Windows Explorer and right click on the .MP3 filename to examine its " Properties " - there is a similar function on MACs I believe, but I do not know t...

Re: Tried troubleshooting. Any other ideas?

Koz, advice is (as always) excellent. It only gets complicated and un-streamlined if you are working with multi-track projects. The problem there being that when you export the project, Audacity mixes&renders the multiple tracks into a single stereo pair. So if you need to retain the multi-track...

Re: Recording problems

Basically you can't "configure for record" (apart from setting the project sample rate and bitrate - and number of channels to record).

Audacity does not offer any real-time processing as you record - all effects must be applied after capture to the already recorded signal.

Re: Label Track Editing Problem

George,

you've obviously discovered that you can have 1.2 and 1.3 both installed on the same PC.

Just be aware that once a 1.2 project has been opened and saved in 1.3 it can never be reopened in 1.2 - this also obviosly applies too to projects created in 1.3.

Re: Label Track Editing Problem

This is a limitation of Audacity 1.2.x - label handliing is one of the much improved areas in the 1.3.x beta versions of Audacity. It's one of the reasons I shifted to 1.3 several months ago - I now never use 1.2 as the later versions of 1.3 seem well stable for the work I do on Audacity which is LP...
