Re: No way of selecting source in Audacity

Actually I see from more detailed reading of the spec for the Citronic AC-1USB that it does have a pre-amp built in - so yes your signal level and RIAA equalisation should be perfectly ok. I'm extremely puzzled that you say that you are registering a signal on the input meters (this obviously indica...

Re: No way of selecting source in Audacity

The Citronic device that you have is a soundcard device itself - it has the requisite ADC (analog to digital converter) so it should digitize the signal from your TT and deliver this already digitized to your PC. The input signal should not pass through your PCs onboard Realtek soundcard. With many ...

Re: recording album sides and dividing to separate tracks

If I'm on my Windows machine and I'm capturing specifically for CD, I use 44.1/16 . I capture and edit my LPs/tapes/minidiscs with Audacity set at 32-bit 44.1kHz - and then downsample on export to 16-bit 44.1KHz with the WaAV export. As Steve's waveforms show, this gives better data quality for edi...

Re: recording album sides and dividing to separate tracks

A fair proportion of the CD's I make are recognized by Gracenote CDDB with no problem - maybe it looks at the track itself without the silences? But, like you Koz, it did surprise me when it happened the first time - I never expected it to work. We are ripping the CDs as it enables me to rip at 192 ...

Re: Startlogic USB turntable - produce Stereo?

Audacity OOTB is set to record in mono as default. Go to Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O and set Recording > Devices to 2 (Stereo)

Re: recording album sides and dividing to separate tracks

Then gather up all the exported WAVs and drop them into iTunes, assemble a playlist, and burn your brains out to get a music CD. Koz Or gather up all the WAVs for an album into a folder in the right order - I find it helps to label my tracks: 01 <track_1_name> , 02 <track_2_name> etc. - Then use CD...

Re: increased size of wav file after editing

I somehow doubt that - CD's are defined by the Red Book standard which is 16-bit, PCM, Stereo, 44.1kHz This Wikipedia article gives some more info on this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Book_(audio_CD_standard) Most CD players won't even play CDs that have MP3s on them - PCs will play CDs that ha...

"500 Internal Server Error" Gale, it's not just Audacity - yesterday circa 4pm UK time I experienced a couple of these 500ISEs on yahoo.com while trying to log in to yahoo to read my email. One of the key changes to internet traffic in the UK is the recent launch of the BBC of their iPlay...
