Re: Recovering low volume portion of recording
I'm wondering if there's a way to get it to highly increase the volume without hitting Amplify 20 times in a row. You may find it easier to use the Envelope tool (the icon has two triangles pointint up and down towards each other with a blue line and a white dot passing through). You can set and dr...

Re: Recording with Audacity
Export them from Audacity as 16-bit PCM Stereo WaV files at 44.1kHz - you will probably find it easiest to set your Audacity Preferebcs to work at 4411kHz 16bit. You may want to break the recording up into tracks first by inserting track labels - and then using Export Multiole to export a set of WAV...

Re: Warning: there is very little free disc space
Cindy, Thanks WC. I checked my HD volume and my CAP is 148 GB and I have 52 GB available. With the help of my local (non Mac) guru I verified disks of both the HD and the boot drive as well as verifying disc permissions. Whew, that's a relief What does "Please select another temp directory in y...

Re: Warning: there is very little free disc space
This is potentially SERIOUS.
You need to do some garbage removal on your hard drive. IIRC from an earlier posting by Koz to similar posting a while ago - you run the risk of your MAC shutting down entirely if there is not enough disk space left.

Re: Recording "Stereo"
When delivered OOTB Audacity is set by default to record in Mono.
To set it to stereo go to Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O and set the Channels to 2 (Stereo)

Re: New Audacity User
Arun, The normal workflow for LPs would be: 1) record the LP with Audacity (do both sides in a single project - Pause rather than Stop after side-1) 2) perform any necessary edits to clean the sound (including fadeout/fadeins at track boundaries) 3) mark/label the track breaks 4) Export Multiple as ...

Re: "Line/Mic Volume"?
Basically yes - but rather than swap an on-board soundcard I woul recommend using an external USB or Firewire soundcard. I use an Edirol UA-1EX and stevethefiddle uses the Behringer UCA202 - both seem to work well with Audacity. The Edirol is moere expensive but has more features/functionality. As a...

Re: Recording with Audacity
I am totally confused by your posting novice81. RecordNow as I undestand it is a CD burning program provided by Sonic - mine came bundled with my latest Dell PC - it is not a recording program. Audacity is a recording and editing program. The normal workflow for LPs would be: 1) record the LP with A...

Re: importing WMA files to audacity
To burn the track to CD, you must first "Export" from Audacity ("File" menu > "Export as WAV") so that you have a normal audio file (rather than an Audacity Project file). Just to add to Steve's excellent advice - just make sure that you export your WAVs as 16-bit PCM ...
