Re: Joining Sections

You need to get the two sections recorded as separate tracks - then you can use the Time-Shift tool to move the tracks around independently so they line up as you want.

When you export to WAV/MP3 Audacity will mix and render the multiple tracks to a single stereo pair.

Re: Recognize noise in a waveform.

I used to do manual repairs as Koz suggests - and like him got reasonably good at it. But it became too tedious and time consuming so I bought some software that Kopz pointed me in the directionof. See this thread: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1994&start=0&st=0&...

Re: Just got USB turntable, can't find USB Audio CODEC

I had the same problem on a windows PC when I installed an ION USB TT a while back. The problem is that when you plug in a USB device like this Audacity recignizes that there is only a single valid audio path and therefore offers you no options in the input dropdown box. You will probably also find ...

Re: z-less

It's a known bug - it's because the lower case z is used as a keyboard shortcut.

You can either reset the keyboard shortcut table - or what I do is to temporarily use a capital Z in the label and edit the file-name/tag after Export back to lower case.

IIRC it's fixed in 1.3.x

Re: New Audacity User

Yes indeed, your original capture recording should be good and audible and without lots of static and background noise. You should expect to get some clicks/pops as LPs inevitably suffer damage over the years - but the basic recorded sound should be bright and clear,

Re: Can't Burn WAV CD

And do make sure that you export your WAV files as 44.1kHz 16-bit PCM stereo (which is the Red Book standard for CDs)

And do use good quality CD-Rs and NOT CD-RWs.

Re: background noise on recordings

A) the hum is likely to be mains hum possibly caused by an earth loop or earthing fault - is it 50Hz/60Hz (depending on geographic location). B) In order to Export to MP3 you need to have the LAME software installed - do you have this? Audacity cannot distribute LAME with Audacity due to licensing r...

Re: importing WMA files to audacity

I have burned the track to a good quality CD . The result is excellent. I have tried to put this edited item on to my MP3 player, but can't seem to do that. I tried converting to an MP3 file, but that didn't work. I have tried moving the file to iTunes - no luck. iTunes should certainly accept the ...
