Re: windows media player while using audacity
don't worry - it catches a lot of people out

Re: To Undo... or not Undo... that is the question.
Are you saying that once you close a project and reopen it, there are no "undos" available? Or stating it in another way, you can't undo past the point where you last opened the project? Yes that's exactly what he's saying. And I've never found a use for the .bak file - but I do regularly...

Re: Inability to record
If you are in luck, there will be an updated driver that fixes it - if not ...... Or you might consider buying an external USB or firewire soundcard - the Edirol UA-1EX or the Behringer UCA202 seem to work well with Audacty. The Behringer is cheaper, the Edirol has more functionality - both have go...

the USB turnatable has hijacked you PCs aufio output as well as its input - and the TT doesn't have speakers. All you need to do is to set windows output to your onboard soundcard (do this from the Control Panel ) - and you may need to set Audacity similarly (go to Edit>Preferences>Audio I/O ) - and...

Re: Colour of Progess bars on import/export/save
Ah.. that's certainly a possibility Steve. On the user with the blue progress bars - I have the desktop set to Windows Classic (this is my main work a/c - but also where I keep my iTunes library, so I do the occasional Audacity work. The user a/c with the green progress bars is my main Audio work a/...

Colour of Progess bars on import/export/save
I ran Audacity 1.3.3 on two different user accounts on the same PC (Windows XP-HE-SP2) - I note that the progress bars to show progress on import/export/save differ between the two accounts - both are administrator accounts . On one a/c the bars are blue and the other they are green - and I can find...

Re: reducing the size of an MP3 file
Audacity's default MP3 bitrate is set to 128 - this is generally rgarded as the lowest acceptable bitrate for music. For spoken work you can usually go much lower - 64 or even 32 without creating bubbly digital artifacts from the compression. To reset the bitrate in 1.2 go to Edit>Preferences >File ...
