Re: Recording direct from mixing desk?
If you want to use headphones, you will need to configure your sound system to use your existing sound card for playback, or get a USB audio interface that has a headphone socket as the UCA-202 does not have any other controls or connections other than Line-in and Line-out (plus the USB lead). The ...

Thank you very much for your answers, and for clarifying a lot of things. I'd also like to apologize for my demanding attitude - it's just that I get easily carried on ..... In any case thanks for replying. rick, a little more clarification - I have recently accepted a task from the developers to t...

Re: Alarm or trigger if recording sound gets too loud. Possi
There is no adudible alarm - but there is a visible one. The meter control box is what you need. When you are recording the recording meter (the one with the microphone icon) has two green bars that indicate the recording level - there are also two little blue bars that indicate the max level achiev...

Re: No sound when I use Audacity V1.26 with USB and cd decks
Sorry but even after further searching t'interweb I can find no pictures of the outputs of your Numark CD mixer - nor any technical specs. What you are looking for on the Numark is an output labelled something like Line Out - this could be a 1/8" stereo minijack, a 1/4" stereo jack, or a p...

Re: No sound when I use Audacity V1.26 with USB and cd decks
The technical term for the "USB thing" that you have from Citronic is an external USB soundcard . It does basically the same job that on onboard soundcard can do for recording - i.e. it takes in an analog signal via the RCA inputs (in your case a signal from your ION mixer thingy) and conv...

Re: Lost files
I suspect that you either did too much tidying up and deleted project files or you did not even Save Project at all. BUT you are extremely lucky - as you have the WAV files you can just open these in Audacity and re-export as MP3 at the appriate rate (but do also retain your WAV files for later use ...

Re: Forum log in/connectivity problems
15:40 UK time crashed out of Audacity as I posted a short reply. Could not then get to the forum site. Other Internet acess seemed fine.
16:15 back in again - previous reply lost (even though I had hit the Submit button to post it).

Re: recording SKIPS a bit every 6 seconds
zangly, Actually the current beta of Audacity seems fairly stable. But you're right that that interface for timer recording is a little flaky in that it leaves the timer record dialog boxes open long after the recording has terminated. But it does seem to work consistently for me, recording exactly ...

Re: Needle importance in recording vinyl
Squib, excellent advice from Koz and Steve. I threw away my ION ITTUSB before I was halfway through my vinyl conversion project - I got all of the tracking and wow&flutter issue with the lightweight ION that Koz talks about (actually it's in the attic gathering dust - $$ ££ offfers anyone ???) ....

Re: shortcut keys for fade in/out?
From looking at the Key Bindings table from Edit>Preferences>Keyboard it looks as though none of the effects have listings in the table and thus AFAIK cannot have shortcut keys associated with them. Like you I use FI/FO a lot and agrre that a k/vb shortcut would be extremely useful. Tedder, can I th...
