Re: Burn on Edited File
Is my issue copyright? It is extremely unlikely that your issue is copyright or DRM - Audacity doesn't mess with that stuff. It's a bit like a tape recorder - once its in Audacity ok there there ain't no DRM or copyright issues (in fact I use Audacity to record AACs bought from iTunes with DRM to r...

Re: need basic help on cutting files
I assume you mean MP3, right? In which cas you can use Audacity, but it's not the best tool for the job - you would be better off searching t'interweb to find and MP3 cutter, I seem to remeber several other postings abot this already on the forum - try searching. The problem with doing it in Audacit...

Re: Burn on Edited File
I'm not sure that I know where you mean "the gray legend to the left of the opened file". You should ideally set your Audacity Preferences prior to recording and editing to 441.kHz 16-bit - do this in Edit>Preferences>Quality In Edit>Preferences>File Formats set the Uncompressed Export For...

Re: Burn on Edited File
Normally the critical thing is to ensure that you export as 44.1kHz 16-bit PCM stereo WAV This is the Red Book standard for Cds. I would strongly recommend not using CD-RWs - for a start their forecast life is much shorter (around only two years) - and a lot of CD players struggle with CD-RWs or don...

Re: Saving a File
When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name>_data 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure with lots of little .au files - segments of t...

Re: sticky volume control
It's because the soundcard in your USB device iscontrolling the signal level - Adacity yields control to the USB device. Hence you moving the slider should have no effect on the recorded volume. Some USB soundcards and some USB turntables have hardware gain controls to let you adjust the signal leve...

Re: Export Multiple Error
You will almost certainly have used a special character like / in the filename where the export failed. I tend to keep my labels fairly vanilla in Audacity and edit filenames and tags after exporting. I number mine by labelling thus: 01 <track_name-1>, 02 <track_name-2> etc. This keeps my exported f...

Re: Losing label focus
do the deletion with the CTRL+K shortcut or Edit>Delete after the selection and NOT the Delete key. What's the difference between "Ctrl K", "Del" and "Back-space"? Well, in the example you gave Steve with that music track and the label track both selected - using the D...
