Re: erasing within single track

You might check out Audacity 1.3, but I don't think that will do it, either. That's correct. In Audacity 1.3.4, you can pause the recording, then "un-pause" it and continue recording on the same track from where it had got up to, but as soon as you hit the stop button, any subsequent reco...

Re: LP vs. Tape

LPs: If your TT has been mothballed for 10 years, it can probably do with a service before you decide to re-use it. Light oil on the main bearing, check condition of belt (if it's a belt drive). And you may need to consider replacing your cartridge or stylus. Also - do you still have a phono preamp...

Re: After save .aup has wave form but no audio

I know I can save as a .wav but then I can't go back and adjust my earlier work. Yes you can - you can open the WAV file in Audacity and then work on it - just be careful because, depending on the Preferences settings you have, Audacity will either just use the WAV file where it is - or make it's o...

Re: Lenco USB

Stefan, I can't offer direct help as I am an XP user not Vista (and I wouldn't touch vista with a ten-foot pole!). But you might get some useful insight from reading this page on the Audacity Wiki: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Windows_Vista_OS You may find thsi section on USB turntab...

Re: Blind user asks for help with tracks' editing

The Fast Forward and rewind icons (like the ones on tape/CD decks) actually move the cursor position to the end or the beginning of the recording.

You can get this from the keyboard with the use of the END and HOME keys.

Re: sxporting

Yes, you should get the opportunity to edit the MP3 ID3 tags on exporting. I don't know if you are using 1.2 or 1.3 - biut in 1.2 there is a flag where you can set the tag data collection on or off - default is on IIRC)

Re: Can I delete the aup files?

When I moved the aup data files to trash, it was OK. But when I emptied trash, I lost everything (mp3 disappeared from iTunes), and I had to re-record. Is this expected behavior? Ravi Ravi, No, this is NOT expected behaviour. Once you have exported MP3 files, you have made yourself some finished pr...

Re: Volume slider

That's certainly what happens on my setup I convert LPs: I run a Technics deck into an ART phono pre-amp which in turn feeds and Edirol soundcard and thence to the PC via USB. I have a gain control on the pre-amp which I use to set so that I get maximum signal level without hardware clipping (it has...

Re: Volume slider

When most USB soundcards/codecs are plugged in - then Audacity normally hands total control over the signal level to them. So in reality although you may be able to move the Audacity sliders - I actually doubt whether that actually lets you control the recording level (please shoot me down in flames...

Re: exporting file

I suspect that you are using special characters like / in your filename(s).

I usually make fairly vanilla filenames in Audacity labels and then edit the filenames and metadat tags later, after export.
