Re: stuttering effect
One thing I can't find on the audacity options on 1.3.5 is the option for hardware playthrough. This seems to have fixed it for others but is not to be seen on my version of audacity. Is this a Mac only version ? Go to Edit>Preferences>Audio I/O to get these options I have my Software Playthrough c...

Re: Blind user asks for help with tracks' editing
I just tested this on Audacity 1.3.5 (I use Windows XP-HE-SP2) - and pasting in a track seems to work exactly as Gale suggests it should. 1. If I paste the cut section to a position in the new track wher the cursor is at a single point, then the clip is inserted at that point and the rest of the tra...

Re: exporting as wav corrupts original and wav
Audacity projects consist of a big cloud of files that are very susceptible to damage and loss if you move or delete any of the files (unless you know exactly what you are doing). There is a top level .aup file created when you SAVE the project and a folder with lots of little .au files which are mo...

I think you can get Nero downloadbal for free - I used to use it on my previous PC successfully. My current Dell came bundled with RecordNow! which also works well for producing music CDs - I don't know if you can get that for free. iTunes (downloadable free) can also do the job for you - it works f...

Re: Recommendations: $100 usb stereo ADC for studio mic
Two USB souncards that get mentioned favourably a lot on the forum are the Behringer UCA202 and the Edirol UA-1EX. The Behringer is cheaper - the Edirol has more features/functionality. Both have good websites with the specs - and both have good helplines that will give technical advice both pre and...

Re: mp3s with muted tracks
I note from the list of effects in 1.3.5 (and from the 1.3.5 release notes) that the developers have added a new Vocal Remover plug-in.

Re: Exporting loop points to WAV
At some point, the developers need to set out what functionality they want to include, and what is outside of their intentions - without some sort of bounds Audacity wouldn't be a multi-track audio editor, it would be an operating system. The Wiki carries a Roadmap for future developments: http://a...

Re: Audacity won't work with Realtek HD Card
jfe: I suspect that you are recording "stereo mix" or "what u hear" (as selected from your input selector dropdown). When using these to record the sounds on your computer (e.g. webstreaming etc.) you should set you preferences so that software playthrough is NOT selected - go to...
