It's most likely to be a fault in the ION catridge/wiring/electronics/USB services. If you have a hi-fi or a boombox, you can test the deck by using the RCA outputs plugged in to the amp - do you get the buzzing on one channel on the hifi/boom-box? Yes jan, I think you are right - but it sometimes misses inter-track gaps and sometimes flags false positives. And of course it can't do the text of the label for you, which you need for the exported filenames and tags - nor can it do the fade-ins and fade-outs that you might require - so if you wan...

If your input devices are limited like this - you should be able to get recordings of streamed audio by looping back the output to the input on your soundcard (either internal/on-board soundcard or external soundcard).

If I change the recording i/o in audacity to microsoft soundmapper, I still do not get any outgoing audio from the computer in audacity. It only picks up the sound of me using the trackpad on the computer. If I change the settings to my external sound card, I get nothing at all in audacity, but can...

Yes, but don't forget that RK is not using his onboard soundcard, but rather the ADC soundcard that is built in to the Numark TT. And that soundcard worked fine when he was recording LPsstevethefiddle wrote:Your sound card may not properly support the selected sample rate.
