Re: Please help!!!!
You are almost certainly not importing an MP3 file (they aren't iTunes/iPod AAC files by any chance?). Audacity behaves as you describe when you attempt to import a non-supported file type. Audacity supports WAV,MP4, Ogg - and in 1.3 FLAC - you should find a software converter to convert your file t...

Re: Can't record using iTTUSB
You shouldn't need the mixer bar to select the input option. When you plug in a USB device like that Audacity recognizes that there is only one valid soundpath (The USB one) and disables the input selector. The ION manual used to be erroneous in this matter - and it looks like it still is. The other...

Re: issues recording with vista
Shaun, I have no experience of Vista so can't offer direct help - but have you seen this page on the Wiki: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Windows_Vista_OS You may be able to get it to work by looping back your output to the input of your soundcard (which is what I do on XP with my exte...

Re: Anyway to shock Audacity into responding.
Yes WAVs are good - but comcon's problem will be that the he has 8 tracks - and if he exports to WAV all the tracks will be Mixed&Rendered into a single stereo pair. If it's important to retain the track structure, for subsequent separate processing, then it will be necessary to export each trac...

Re: Recording issue.
This site may have some useful info for you: http://www.free-instrumentals.com/behringeruca200.html It's an external site - but McAfee Site Advisor gives it a clean bill of health. Basically your sound input should be targetted on the USB device (you are plugging it in before firing up Audacity, are...

Re: Problem with fade in effect.
It's in teh same place in 1.3 too. And there are known bugs with the cross-fade effects - which is why I gave up on using them a while ago- the normal fade-in/out seem to work consistently well enev if they are somewaht limited in functionality (BTW you could try the Envelope tool for greater flexib...

Re: how to set to ignore silence A1.2.6?
<<<**somehow** they got into a different folder (okay, DUH)>>> That tree jumped right in front of my car. What Koz is alluding to in his circumlocutory way - is that when you Export your MP3s Audacity invires you yo place the files exactly where you want them to be - by way of a drop-down sel...

Re: how to set to ignore silence A1.2.6?
You project is not intact as a single file: When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name>_data 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure w...

Re: Recording a cassette
I take the RCA outputs from the back of my tapdeck and feed that into the RCA inputs of my external USB soundcard.
