There is no need to interface Nero as a plug-in.
Instead, simply export from Audacty a set of WAV files (16-bit PCM stereo 44.1kHz - i.e. the Red Book standard for CDs) - amd then use Nero standalone to burn your CD.

Re: Prettier Plug-in Level meters
Keefy,
do you know that you can make the meters larger? It doesn't make them much prettier, but it makes them much more useful.
You can drag the meter bars around amd then stretch them out (I have mine stretched across the whole Audacity Window).

No Robert, it's not just you- many of us miss that Options button in the 1.3 Exports the first few time we use it (several postings on the forum confirm this - and I missed it too). In 1.2 the Export settings were controlled in Preferences settings - the developers figured that for 1.3 it was better...

4. Will files saved in 1.3.3 open and then be saved in a new format? WS2: yes - 1.3.3 saves in a new project fomat - it is a data-structure which is an extension of the 1.2 format so you get what developers call forwards compatibility but not backwards compatibility. I.e. 1.2 projects should all op...

Re: To update or not to update, that is the question!
If you have a version and install that works for you, I would firmly advise staying right where you are. The new version will be 1.4.x. Right now the programmers are wrecking 1.3 with an eye toward the 1.4 debut. All the versions past about 1.3.3 are minor patches that break major features of the p...

Re: mpeg-1, mpeg-2 audio samples.
Audacity 1.3.5 certainly has a dropdown selection to export to MP2 - I have't tried it personnally, so can't vouch for it working - Give it a try and report back please.

R=The first thing I would try is exiting Audio after your first project record/edit/export - and then fire up a fresh instance of Audacity for the second project.

Re: cassette tapes sound warped and distorted
I would try cleaning the tapedecks transport - paricularly the capstan and the pinch-roller that propel the tape - I'd also give the heads a gentle clean while you're at it.

Re: Recording
You should not encounter any DRM problems if all you are doing is playing and recording - it's only if you try to make digitalcopies that the DRM intervenes. (The only exception being that if you have a CD with DRM that won't play on a PC or cannot be ripped. But this can be got round by playing it ...
