I think you will find that un-muting a particular input has the same effect as selecting it.

Re: Custom Default Preferences?
1.2.x uses the Windows Registry to store it's preferences - so it may be difficult. In 1.3.x (and presumably therefore in the upcoming 1.4) the is an audacity.cfg configuration file stored in C:Documents and Settings <user_name> Application DataAudacity - so you may be able to copy this to all creat...

Re: effects - normalize vs amplify
although it will not bring back the UNDOs. I'm not sure why that is. Koz Koz, I think this is designed this way so that Audacity can release the .au files that are "unused" after the edits to free up spac on the drive. It would be useful, though, to have an addition to the "Close Pro...

Re: Horrible distortion when recording 12" singles
The underlying problem here is that 12" singles were/are recorded "louder" than their 7" equivalents or LP tracks. There is basically more vinyl real-estate for the recording engineers to exploit. Are you using an external USB soundcard to connect the Project pre-amp to the compu...

Re: Attempt to convert M4P to MP3
Are you actually burning a music CD from yopu M4P playlist? It almost reads from your posting that you are just copying the M4p files to a CD and trying to import those files from the CD. When you burn a music CD you don't actually get music "files" - you get data streams controlled by a s...

Re: need to increase input volume
I use exactly this microphone on my Windows XP set-up, but it is connected to my PC via an external USB "soundcard" - I use the dirol UA-1EX. It was bought originally for minidisc work (until the scrotes who broke into my house stole the portable recorder grrrr....) - but it works very suc...

Re: Effect amplify - denegrate sound at some amt?
No, it should not degenerate before 0db - but as soon as it hits 0db then is degrades with a vengeance, into "clipping". This is a feature of digital recording which is very unforgiving in this respect - unlike old analogue tape which enabled the occasional foray into the red zone on the m...

Re: Apparent noise can be made to disappear
Nukie, And you have earthed the Rega TT to the ART pre-amp, right? If you don't you are likely to get mains hum and its harmonics (but I suspect that you already know that since you are a Rega user). I would try plugging the USB into the various different USB ports that you have on the computer - ot...

Maurimol,
could you re-post your suggestion to the "Adding Features To Audacity" section of the forum - then we can see better how much support it garners, before I transfer it over to the Wiki Feature Request section in a month's time.
Thanks,
WC

The two most common reasons for this are:JakeDL wrote: My computer has been sluggish lately but I don't know why.
1) Your hard drive is getting too full
or,
2) you may have acquired a virus
