Re: Miserably slow entering labels
You will almost certainly have soem version of 1.2.x supplied from ION - I would recommmend downloading the latest 1.3.x version suitable for MACs from the Audacity site: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac Although labelled as Beta, 1.3. is now very stable - I use it daily and never bother wi...

Re: Attempt to convert M4P to MP3
See this page from the Wiki on how to import from iTunes: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_import_files_from_iTunes Or if you still can't make that work then you can try the recording route - see this page in the Wiki: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Recording_audio_p...

Re: reducing MP3 file size
MP3 file size is controlled by the MP3 export bitrate - and as Kozikowski tells you above, in 1.2.x it's controlled via Edit>Preferences>File Formats and then use the drop-down in the MP3 Export Setup box. The default is 128which is generally reckoned to be the lowest acceptable compression rate for...

Re: 24 bit should have been 16 bit: oops?
Does this apply to files exported to MP# as well? I have the same problem except in MP3 format Not really, no. The 24bit versus 16-bit that we are talking about hear is the sample rate for the project (basically how often the digital sound samples are made). MP3 file size is controilled by the MP3 ...

Re: Error while opening sound device
Assuming the Edirol is a USB device, make sure Audacity isn't trying to play back out to the Edirol. That one's in Apple Preferences. Koz Actually this particular Edirol decice is Firewire not USB - but I still suspect that Koz is right and your computer is trying to use the Edirol as the sound out...

Re: Ripping vinyl through a laptop...Need advice
Masoncity: Actually I think that your TT has its own on-board pre-amp. From Looking at the specs it seems to be settable between phono output and line output. If it is set to ""Line" output - then the internal pre-amp will be engaged and the necessary RIAA equalization will be applied...

Re: 24 bit should have been 16 bit: oops?
You (or rather Audacity) can "downsample" to 16-bit WAV on Exporting to WAV. A process known as dithering will be applied which will introduce tiny, tiny errors - but you won't hear them. I have Audacity set to 32-bit 44.1kHz for recording and editing (for improved headroom for editing) an...

Re: Audacity reboot problem
IIRC from your original posting you were using 1.2.x. I would try downloading and installing 1.3.5 from the Audacity site: http://audacityteam.org/ . I can't guarantee it will work for you - but it's worth a try. Don't be put off by the Beta labelling - 1.3.x is fairly advanced in its cycle now and ...

Re: File Splits/Times Not Showing
When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name>_data 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure with lots of little .au files - segments of t...
