Re: Time between songs

After each song you can make a gap with the Generate > Silence function in Audacity. The Red Book standard for CDs specifies a 2 second gap (lots of CD burning software inserts this intertrack gap unless you tell it not to). I am most curious as to know why you want to create "one long string&q...

Re: Vinyl to PC cleanup

See this thread of mine: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1994 This is additional software - it is not free, but not expensive either - it does a great job and I think has been well worth the money for me. In the thread Gale Andrews also recommeds a free-trial alternative. I'ts...

Re: moving the music

Try this page from the Audacity Wiki: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_burn_CDs If you are posting other people's copyrighted material - even if you alter it - you are likely to be in breach of copyright law in most countries. But then YouTube is full of illlegally posted material...

Re: No Sound At All

It sounds like you are trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support - that screech is Audacity trying to play a filetype it can't resove (1.2.x doesn't give you sensible error message - IIRC this is fixed in later versions of Audacity 1.3.x, where you get a meaninful warning). Audacit...

Re: Equipment to record a meeting

I'd go with STF's suggestion of the Zoom H2 (it gets recommended by many people, not just Steve). It should provide the simplest solution to your needs - simple, small and very portable.

Just upload the files to PC later for editing and distribution.

Re: Custom Equalization

And note that while 1.2 projects can be opened in 1.3 - 1.3 projects won't open in 1.2 - and once you have opened a 1.2 project in 1.3 and saved it - then it becomes qa 1.3 project unopenable again in 1.2.

Re: Application error crashes in Vista

Silent audio does contain samples that have to be calculated - they are there, but just at 0.0. Unfortunately, that to me is indicative of a significant problem. That's like reserving a number of chairs, but when one gets used and is no longer needed you don't release it for someone else to sit in ...

Re: Entering Specific time selections

In 1.2 you can only label points in the Audio - so a selection range (for multiple export say) is defined by the section between two labels. To make the label jjust move yor cursor to the selected position and type CTRL + B , then type in the label. Note that labelling is much better handled in 1.3....

Re: Entering Specific time selections

You can do it in 1.3.x but not in 1.2.x - in 1.3 the developers introduced a new toolbar called the Selection Toolbar - using this new toolbar you can do what you are asking for.
