Re: Audacity must close...
You may also find that it helps if you save the totally empty project to its target filename prior to doing any recording. That way Audacity doesn't use its temp folder to store the project while recording, but instead writes directly to where the project will be stored. If it uses the temp files th...

Re: Seal USB turntable & Windows XP
When you had it working the first time did you have the PC running and then plug the USB to the PC? And then the next day was it already connected when you booted up? If so try disconnecting and re-booting - then if that doesn't work try leaving it conneected and then reboot. Another thing you might...

Re: Seal USB turntable & Windows XP
Start out with this article on the Wiki on using USB TTs: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=USB_turntables If you still can't make it work after that then do post back again. It is extremely unlikely that un-installing Audacity will help you - for a start the Preferences settings are stor...

Yes your English is very readable much better than our Deutsch would be :) You still haven't told us what model of PC you are using, or whether it is a laptop or desktop/deskside - or which version of Windows you are using. When you plug in a USB device like this Audacity hands complete control of t...

And note that you can control the amount of compression by adjusting the bitrate for export - in 1.2 this is done in Preferences (In 1.3 and presumably 1.4 when it comes, it is settable as part of the export dialog). For music a bitrate of 128 is generally considered the minimum quality for - for sp...

Yes but it's notorious for not working accurately (or even roughly well) - so Koz' manual method is probably the best way to go.kozikowski wrote: I think one of the versions of Audacity has a Zero Crossing Detector.

Have you seen the Wiki page on LAME installation? See: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... stallation
As far as I remember (and it's been a while since I installed LAME) you can install it almost anywhere - you just have to tell Audacity wher it is kept on your PC.

Re: HELP! No sound after saving projects -- flat liners!
Doesn't anyone save as Audacity projects? I record EVPs when I'm ghost hunting and use the label track to mark areas of interest. Deb, yes indeed I certainly save things as Audacity projects - but only as a work-in-progress while I'm working on a recording (fror precisely some of te reason's you me...
