Re: What's a decent A-D converter?

Sounds like either the Behringer FCA202 or the Edirol UA-1EX would make me happy (enough). One thing you might want to consider is that the Edirol gives you control over the output level sent to your computer - the vovlume conrol on the FCA202 only appears to affect the headphone output level (this...

Compression and stereo image

I note from reading earlier postings that compressing to MP3 can sometimes cause damage to the stereo image. This leads to a number of questions: 1. Is the MP3 stereo image damage less at higher bit rates? 2. Does Apples iTunes AAC compression produce the same stereo image damage - and if so is that...

Re: AUP file not created

I find it better to Save the Project as an empty project prior to starting any recording. The advantage of this approach is that Audacity does then not use its temporary file area to store the project (and then subsequently copy from the temp area to your specified file location) - instead it writes...

No Audacity does not support this - your only solution would be to have a second PC.

Re: slowing down audio recordings

The best way would be to install, the Beta version of Audacity 1.3.5 - there is a new tool bar added for 1.3 called the Transcription Toolbar which enables you to temporarily change the speed of playback (faster or slower) without altering the recording. If you just want to stay with 1.2 then you ca...

This may achieve what you need - and if it does work, please report back so that othere may benefit in the future from your...

Re: Live time delay ?

just an off-the-wall-thought: might it be possible to set the latency (may need 1.3 for this) to create the required delay ??

Normally people want to reduce the latency as much as possible - but if you can move it in one direction then maybe you can move it in the other.. Any thoughts folks ?
