Re: Is there a way to set markers for a select?

You will find this easier to do in 1.3 rather than 1.2 - in 1.3 when you close to the marker/label then a little yellow bar appears and is "sticky". Also in 1.3 labels can label a region as well as a single point.

In both 1.2 and 1.3 you will find it quicker if you zoom out.

Re: music removal?

see this page in the wiki: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... al_Removal

You may need to copy the track, remove the vocal (if possible - and this isn't always so) - and then subtract the vocal from the original track.

Re: Question about sound cards

I use an external USB soundcard, the Edirol UA-1EX, mainly for LP and tape transcription and recording FM broadcasts off-air - plus the occasional spoken word microphone usage. It works very well for me in al these roles. Stevethefiddle, a frequent contributor to the forum, uses the Behringer UCA202...

Re: Delay in headphones

No it's what's known as latency - basically passing tthe sifgnal through the hardware and software of your computer takes a little time (varies with h/w and s/w). To avoid such latency when recording you will need to monitor direct from the input side of the soundcard you are using (if using an exte...

Re: Accidental PCM recordings

It's far more likely that what you have done is to burn the WAV files to CD as a data CD rather than a music CD - just copying the files to CD will not do - you need to create a music CD with a CD burner program like Nero or Roxio (or even iTunes ...). PC can play WAV files - CD players generally ca...

Re: Your Opinions Please

Audacity will do this job absolutely fine (Recording and editing).

I transcribed all my old tapes, lots of off-air spoken word documentaries and comedy programmes mainly from the BBC - and Audacity worked well for that. What's more the price is right - it's free ....

Re: kbps

What you need to do is to record/edit in Audacity and then export as an MP3 (tou can't record in MP3 with Audacity). To make the export you will need the LAME add-on (see http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Lame_Installation for this). Then you can use the Export function (or Export Multipl...

Re: Addind effects while recording....

Basically no - Audacity does no real time processing while recording. It is one of the most common requests in the Audacity Feature Request list on the wiki. I have added your vote to it there. You can see the FR list at: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Feature_Requests#Highest-rated WC

Since Audacity is free to downloads and use and access to the website is free - your posting makes no sense :o
