Re: vista 64 bit NON recording
The recording inputs that you can select in Audacity depend entirely upon the combination of your soundcard, its associated driver software and the O/S. Andyes Vista is famous for making this harder. You may be able to get around this by purchasing an external soundcard and looping back the outputs ...

Re: speed change
Yes select the audio and then use the Audacity funtion Effect > Change speed - and set it to cahnge from 45 to 78 using the drop-down selectors. Note however that the RIAA equalisation applied by your pre-amp (or the preamp in your turntable) is likely to be the vinyl RIAA - the RIAA equalisation ap...

Re: Audacity Stops Recording after <1sec
Thanks for your high praise - but thanks is really due to Gale Andrews (one of the developers) who responded to a similar problem recently and gave a good analytical reply to the problem. I am merely the sponge that soaked up the info from that posting and wrung it out again to pass on when needed ....

Re: Audacity Stops Recording after <1sec
Could be a duff USB port. You have plugged it not direct to a USB port on your PC, right? USB hubs often give lots of trouble. The trouble is that once the USB connection breaks ot stays broken - which is why it starts off ok and then flatlines. Try a different USB port - or if you only have the one...

Re: Blending Two or more tracks up and down
You can use the Envelope tool to vary the volume of your backing track. The envelope tool is accessed by the tool button with the icon that looks like a white dot with two triangles pointing at it and a blue-line going through it. When you activate the envelope tool you will see blue lines added to ...

Re: Sorted ID3 tags?
1.3 is fairly stable now - I have used only 1.3.5 since it was released - can't vouch for 1.3.6 as I haven't tried that. But 1.3 is slowly being edged towards a stable 1.4 for release by the developers - so most of the early 1.3 wrinkles have been ironed out by this stage.

Re: Help - I cannot control the recording levels
Is it possibly because the iMic is a USB device and Audacity cannot control recording levels from a USB input? Yes, I believe this is the case. When you plug in a USB device like this Audacity hands over control of the sound services, including the signal level, to the USB device. Some USB devices ...

I assume that you mean the Genre list is jumbled - right?
You don't say if you are using 1.3 or 1.3 - in 1.3 going to File > Open Metadata Editor enables you to edit the genre list.

Re: Baseline of waveform was 0 now is 0.8
It sounds like you have what is knows as "DC offset" generated on your soundcard (a fault). It can normally be corrected after recording by selecting the audio and using the Normalize effect - you will see a tickbox to remove the offset.

Re: Burning to CD?
It's a little more exciting than that. USB Turntables as a group suck. Actually my ION iTTUSB worked well with Audacity (on Windows XP HE SP2) - but it was let down by the very lightweight platter which gave very noticeable wow&flutter - so I abandoned it for my old technics TT resurrected from...
