Re: Messed up audio sounds high pitch
It's actually "clipped" rather than "high pitch" - the mic inpit on your laptop is not a good match for the line output level of your soundboard. If your laptop only has a mic input and if that input cannot be configured for a line level input signal (some can, some can't - you'l...

Re: The dreaded USB Turntable with added USB preamp?
Mett, yes you're right, the ART came later so I never configured it with the ION - can't test it now either as the the ION is not actually collecting dust in my attic - it's with a friend who wanted to try it out ... I was actually rather pleased with the electronics of the ION sounded good for a ch...

Re: back ground music for commercial
Audacity is a multi-track editor - so you will probably find it easier if you record the music and the ad on separate tracks - both in the same project - record one first then the other (or import the music tack and then record the voice in a new track). You will be able to control the volume of the...

Re: Save UI layout
I haven't used 1.2 for a while now, so I can't remember if this is correct behaviour (but a quick test on my old 1.2 vn shows that this is what happens on my PC too). But in the Beta version 1.3 Audacity does remember these setttings, it stores them in the user's audacity.cfg preferences file. 1.3 i...

Re: The dreaded USB Turntable with added USB preamp?
The inputs for the ART preamp/USB soundcard are RCA phono sockets - so provided your ION has RCA outputs as well as the USN then the two should work together. I use the ART preamp connected to myoild Technics deck with the preamp plugged to my external USB soundcard (the combination works well). You...

Re: speed change
Tks for your quick reply but I do not find the options you talk about. I have istalled today the 4.1 editor. do you have the same version ? Tks Ypolager not sure what you mean by the "4.1 editor" - before I posted I tested the change speed effect on both Audacity 1.2.6 and 1.3.5 and it wo...

Re: Meter Toolbar - green output
djm, don't worry - I don't believe that any of us find this "feature" just by stumbling across it. Some of us have had long e-discussions with the developers about making this functionality much more transparent - one sugggestion being that metering should be "alway on" just is i...

Re: every editing option is greyed out and disabled
you need to select some audio first for the Effects to operate on. To select the whole track: click CTRL+A - to select part of a trak: click and drag with your cursor.
