Odd, I've never seen this before. You can always reduce the bitrate of the MP3 when you export the Audacity project. The default Audacity setting is 128 which is regarded by many as the minimum for music - 64 is generally reckoned to be ok for spoken voice. You can use lower bit rates - but the more you reduce the bitrate the worse ...

And joy of joys - this is finally the default in 1.3.6 (and presmnably 1.4 when it comes) - so such restiing won't be necessary for most folks in the future, it'll work in stereo "right out of the box" as they say ....

Is it a USB mic? If so then I would suspect the USB connection plug or socket or cable.
