External disks are great for storing large data-sets that you don't actually need online all the time (like all your photos) - but if you are moving your photos offline I would strongly...

Re: increasing gain: hardware or software?

Or buy an external soundcard - mine works a treat on both my PC's desktop and laptop.kozikowski wrote: Stop using a PC? Nobody is going to throw awards at PC sound card makers for their high quality and superior performance.

Re: NO SOUND-DELL LAPTOP/KAM TURNTABLE/WINDOWS XP
Does the Kamm USB TT that you are using have a gain control anywhere? I used to run an ION iTTUSB and that did have one. As I explained earlier, with these USB TTs Audacity hands over complete control of the sound services to the USB decice - and this includes control of the signal level. So if ther...

Re: Audio Recording Problem, can it be fixed in Audacity?
Please don't triple post the same query - it only annoys the volunteer folks who work this board - and it never gets your question answered any quicker. I have deleted the duplicate postings to avaid any parallel threads developing. Sorry I can't answer your question - but there are are couple of ot...

Re: vinyl-to-digital noise
Al, I use the ART preamp that Koz mentions (he uses the other one BTW) connected to my Technics deck and then onwards to a separete Edirol USB soundcard into to PC. This gives excellent recordings with no "USB interference" detectable. So I suspect that the problem lies with your Pro-ject ...

Actually Koz, it was sunny here in Manchester yesterday - but snowy and cold. Today it's back to the usual rain and wind though .....
