Re: Question about creating audiobook
Makes good sense to me - I never like over-large projects myself as the processing time is far too long An example was last weekend I set up a 1.5 hour timed recording - but Audacity failed to switch off - so I ened up with a project of over 9 hours. It took absolutely ages to just to trim it down t...

Re: Question about creating audiobook
Yes, but as Koz is fond of pointing out - Audacity projects are not production files - theye are an audio development environment. You really need to be exporting a set of WAV files or compressed MP3 files - for transfer to CD/iPod and MP3 player - and it the Audacity labels that determine the track...

A good place to look for tutorials is the Audacity Wiki - see: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tutorials

Re: Bug? Channels available in 1.2.6 are missing in 1.3 beta
Personally, I've found 1.3.6 to be more stable on Windows XP than v.1.3.5 OK Steve, I'm gonna be brave. I've finally downloaded 1.3.6 ...... WC UPDATE: Phew, just did a test recording from FM and got a a lot of crackly hiss overlaying the signal - thought that's blown it - tried it on 1.3.5 and sti...

Re: splitting long mix without spaces
Should be - but be aware that CD buring software will often add an intertrack gap of 2 seconds or so (Red Book guideline for CD's). But it is often possible to set a flag/switch so that it creates a "Gapless album".

Re: Question about creating audiobook
You obviously know about Audacity labels and their use in track creation - but no, as far as I am aware there is no way of creating the sub-tracks you require.

Re: What's the best way to convert .flac into mp3?
And I would add: make at least one backup copy of the WAV file on a separate disc (speaking as someone who had a disk crash on my external RAID drive last weekend - but fortunately with a second USB disc with a full set of my WAV files - phew .....).

Re: Generate Silence
Not sure why you are adding silence (with the Generate Silence function) to the inter-track gaps. I transcribe a lot of LPs what I do to the intertrack gaps after capture and cleanup is to fade out the end if the prior track (if needed), dade in the succeddding track (if needed) - then select the in...

Re: I need help...error message...
I don't suppose you ever exported a WAV file of the project at any stage? If so you should be able to open that. Audacity projects can be problem children at times - very brittle and easy to break if you are not careful , which is why posters on this forum often recommend exporting as WAV at various...

Re: Can Not Download Using XP PRO
Are you downloading from the right place? This is the official Audacity site : http://audacityteam.org/
I run XP-Pro and have downloaded both 1.2.6 Stable and 1.3 Beta version with no problems.
You may need to be logged in as an administrator - do you have administrator privileges?
