Re: Best Turntable for about $100?
I can't comment on the Audio Technica or the Pioneer as I have no experience of those. 1. The portable ION - IMHO because this is a portable player the platter is very small (smaller than the diameter of an LP record) - you will almost certainly get speed variations (wow&flutter) from this turnt...

Re: Where is the REPAIR effect in 1.3.6 ?
Leopard was the first time Apple got very serious about upgrades and patches. I installed it and told it to go look for patches and didn't get the machine back for several hours..... Good thing I have two machines. Koz yesss.. even good ol' iTunes can take a fair old while to upload and install an ...

A good place to start would be the Wiki: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... _Home_Page
particularly the tutorials: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tutorials

Re: Audio CD Playback Problem
Gillikins, you may want to consider reducing the burn speed - IIRC I think you can do that in Nero, but it's been a while since I used it. This advice has been dispensed several times in other postings on the forum, so I'm guessing it may work for you. And do post back if you get it all working - as...

Re: Extract voice from voice & Piano
First task though is to capture the tape into Audacity and export that as a master copy WAV (unless you already have it as a WAV) file AND make a separate backup copy on a separate disk (e.g.extenal USB/firewire disk say). Do NOT edit this master copy - rather take a copy and do your editing work on...

My Realtek HD Audio Manager settings
Ok Bender - sorry it took me a while to get back but here we go. This is the way my Realtek interface is set on the Mixer tab. Note that I have only two input options for recording Mic and Stereo Mix. I can only select one of them at a time (it toggles) and at the moment I have the Stereo Mix select...

Re: menu wont work on Audiacty 1.3.4-beta
There is a Silence Finder tool - you should find it uner Analyze, you will need to select some Audio for it to work on first. It may give you some false track breaks too, so beware.

Re: Where is the REPAIR effect in 1.3.6 ?
Hi Koz, thanks for that (saves me going back to 1.3.5 just for the odd Repair ....) I note from a subsequent posting by Gale that the actual layout structure of the effects may well change - what they put in 1.3.6 was just experimental - so just beware in later releases (actually IIRC you are trying...

Re: Volume issues- clarification needed- Audacity and ITunes
I do a lot of LP and tape transcription. What I do is: 1) transcribe the recordings with my recording level set at a fairly optimal maximum level using the gain controls on my pre-amp and my external soundcard - testing the levels prior to recording (just like in the old days of making tapes from LP...
