Re: wiki link
And I note that the old header with the "Where you meet the Audacity Community" has made an umwelcome return - and we've lost the "Questions, answers and opinions". Also the breadcrumb trail has somewhat unconventional backward pointing chevrons - rather than forward pointing one...

Re: One Channel not functioning
Ok TT design 101: The TT deck has a platter the big round falt thing that goes round that re LP goes on. There is a pivoting arrm which moves across the record as it plays. At the end of the arm it broadens out into the headshell (on some TTs the headshell is not removable - but on most it is, IIRC ...

Re: task bar appearance problems
Sounds like the language setting in your preferences file is corrupted. As you are using 1.3 the easiest way to reset the preferences is to delete the audacity.cfg file (C:Documents and Settings<your_user_name>Application DataAudacityaudacity.cfg ) - just note that this will reset all your preferenc...

Re: One Channel not functioning
Sounds to me like you have a bad connection somewhere in the Left channel audio chain. I would check that the push connectors (all four of them) are snugly home on the cartridge in the headshell. Check that he headshell is properly screwed in. The USB connection may be suspect too, try wiggling it g...

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?
Figuring out where the distortion is is critical. I wonder what that tool would do to a good fuzz guitar track. Cello and timpani? Wouldn't it be funny if it took the cannons out of the 1812? Koz There is an apocryphal story about a BBC recording engineer who made a field recording in Africa of a l...

Re: Which Sound Card Line-In
Yes it's the Edirol UA-1EX - it has more features/functionalty than the Behringer, but it's a bit more expensive. I considered both of these but figured that I could use the extra functionality (gain controls in particular - and the digital input). I use it for LP, tape and minidisc transcription, o...

Re: another distortion problem
A possible workaround: If you can get good quality WAV files out out of your TV capture software - then why not record in that, export the WAV and then import into Audacity for editing.

Re: I cann't record!!
If this button is set to digital it is meant to record midi, right?? Actually it is probably meant to record a digital input signal - for instance the digital SPDIF output from a minidisc player or deck - or the output of a DAT recorder etc. MIDI isn't actually a signal - just a set of instructions...
