Re: Sound Card question

ok I've taken Steve's bait ..... First comment: you will probably only make the 100 albums per year if you can devote a fair amount of time to it - my transcription rate went up considerably when I retired - though I still have arounnd 150 of my wife's albums and a drewerful of her tapes to work on....

Re: 1.3.6 Click Removal and Export Multiple?

Anyway, I still find it easier to exit/restart Audicity between each recording and have it prompt me ONCE for the album info during save than to edit Metatags and confirm for each track. And I think this is good practice too - much better to start with a clean Audacity workbench (otherwise Audacity...

Re: LP Calibration Tracks

Sort of like the feature found on more expensive cassette decks. Remember them? ... Remember them, I've still got one (my trusty old Nakamichi). If I can find a CD and LP version of the exact same song does Audacity already have a tool to do this, third party app, or a plug-in available ? Joh...

Re: L channel only on RCA recording

BTW, not sure if creating test noise on the leads is an option on this model ION, the RCA cables are hardwired inside the deck housing (not plug in). Or maybe I just couldn't follow directions. No, you're right, you can't follow Koz' instructions in this case as you correctly point out the cable is...

Re: exported wave file length not equal to audacity track le

Can't comment on the length issue (I'm now a reasonably expeienced user, but I never look under the hood) - but why do you need a cue sheet to burn a CD? Having labelled your tracks all you need to do is to export multiple as a set of WAV files and then use a CD burner to create a CD from the set of...

Re: USB Driver not installing

If you must have a USB turntable, Ion are amongst the better ones ... Gale Also consider the Numark devices - Numark & ION are basically the same company - the Numark TTs are a little more expensive but they tend to have heavier platters and better tone arms and cartridges (but check the specs ...

Re: Bug in .aiff export

This puzzles me, as I have no problem in importing WAV files made with Audacity into iTunes. I export as 44.1kHz 16-bit PCM stereo.

Works ok either if I import the WAV files directly into iTunes, or if I burn a music CD with the WAVs and rip that into iTunes.

Re: USB Connection Shuts down system

All you need to do is to turn monitoring on - just click once inside the red recording meter area.

This is a well-hidden, poorly documented feature of Audacity - and the visual cues to show that monitoring is on is only the bars moving (and if you have a null signal they don't move!).

Re: ???????

To change the language use: Edit>Preferences - Edit is the second command in from top left, then Preferences is the bottom selection in the drop-down list. Then you need the Interface tab, which is the third one in from the right. Language is selected from the only drop-down list in the dialogue box...
