Re: new to audacity
If you're going to do production like heavy audio manipulation, noise reduction, gain and compression, equalizations, etc, etc, then 32 bit floating might be the best instead of 16-bit as that survives special effects very well. Yes record/edit at 32-bit for better editing headroom as Koz says - bu...

Re: Compression Fun
I know it's not the same thing, but the difference between the analog and digital television feeds is about a second or less. Koz Same thing with Analog v. digital radio here in the UK (though slightly longer tan a second IIRC). It drives the Radio 4 listeners wild with agitation when the pips (UK ...

Re: Track markers
And you may need to set your CD burner software so that it does not insert 2-second (may vary) intertrack gaps, so that you retain your continuous mix.

Re: Illegal Operation message while trying to export to MP3
Following from Stearman's link - Amazon UK has a whole page of 1TB disks http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_ce?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=1TB+External+Hard+Drive&x=13&y=14 - and the prices seem to be tumbling almost monthly (or the amount of storage increases per £/$)...
Re: STEREO
but what do you mean with : "Did you save your turntable receipts?". What Koz means do you still have the paperwork that confirms tour purchase of the turntable, as it looks as though the turntable is broken and needs to be returned to the shop you bought it from or the manufacturer (depe...

Re: audacity downloaded but won't open
According to the Audacity download site, for MAC OSX you may need 1.2.5 and NOT 1.2.6 (depending on whether you have Intel or PPC) - see http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can download 1.2.5 from the link I have just posted for you - and no you shouldn't need to have the TT attached or on when in...

Re: Error opening project
Once you get your show perfect through cutting, filtering, amplifying, etc, Export As WAV to get a sound file. And back it up to another separate disk for a safety copy. And then you can delete the .aup file and its associated folder that contains all the little .au files that make up your project....

Re: Illegal Operation message while trying to export to MP3
But also remember that disks can crash too! That's why I use a minimum of two external disks for parallel backup copies. Just before Christmas I had my relatively new (three and a half months since purchase) 2x500Mb raid disk go awry with one of the disk pair totally unreadable/unmountable. The RAID...

Re: Illegal Operation message while trying to export to MP3
I plan to free up the space on the computer after I spin off the CD's so, that isn't a problem and I don't have an iPod or some such thing either so, MP3 is out and WAV is in. Bob Just be aware that CD-R's are photosensitive (that's how they get written with the burning laser) - which means that th...
