Re: How to convert Joint-Stereo to Stereo in Windows MediaPl

SO if I get this correct, when I finally get my MONO Jimi Hendrix Lp, I should just record via my ion Turntable in Audacity, and then because it has two channels recorded, simply just pick one and delete the other? How do you destroy one "ear" of a stereo piece? And wouldn't that leave me...

Re: 1.3.6 Effects list

In 1.3.6 the effects are structured into sub-lists - hover over an item in a list to see the sub-list.

Re: Recording stops while recording LPs from USB turntable

This is normally a sympton of a poor USB connection.

Try wiggling the USB plug in the socket (gently) - or try an alternative USB socket.

And definitely stick with the shorter USB lead.

Re: Should I install audacity will it mix songs?

You should be able to record these in Audacity while playing them in iTunes. Either plug the headphone output of your iPod to the Line-in socket on your computer - or play it in iTunes on your computer - and set Audacity to record.

Re: Distorted Recording

Hard to find any real details about your deck on t'interweb - particulary no manual or full tech specs. So.... are you absolutely sure that there is no gain control on your deck? The ION that I used to have had one, but it was in a non-obvious place, underneath at the back. Have a good look in the m...

Re: How to convert Joint-Stereo to Stereo in Windows MediaPl

And can I even record a MONO Lp into stereo? Will it simply just record in the left or right side ear? Yes, the stereo cartridge will pick up two signals for you effectively making it a two channel mono track. In theory both channels should be identical, but this is rarely the case in practice - th...

Re: Trying to clean up 2 broken records

I started out using Audacity's tools - mainly hand-drawing the repair in 1.2 and latterly the manual Repair tool in 1.3. But last year I started using ClickRepair - it costs a little but is well worth it IMHO. It does offer a 21-day free trial to assess the product, so with only two recordings to fi...

Re: Distorted Recording

Which USB TT? Or is a normal TT with an external USB soundcard?

And BTW with a USB TT connected you will be using the ADC/soundcard in the USB TT for input (though you will need the Realtek in your PC for output).

Re: Aucacity Makes Audio Crash on My Computer

In which case .... When you plug in a USB device like this your computer hands over control of all sound services to the USB device - both input and output. Since you USB TT doesn't have a set of speakers, you then don't get any sound from the computer (not even the normal Windows sounds). All you n...
