Re: Audacity and Roland Edirol UA-1EX
I have Audacity set to 2-Channels (stereo) 44.1kHz 32-bit floating. I record and edit at 32-bit to give me greater editing headroom, but then use Audacity to downsample to 16-bit 44.1kHz (the Red Book CD standard) on exporting production files to WAV. Th dip switches on my Edirol reading left to rig...

Re: Audacity and Roland Edirol UA-1EX
My UA-1EX works happily on both my PCs (desktop and laptop) on Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x.
Just a thought, you have turned up the gain control on the UA-1EX, right?

Re: Adding text to customized keyboard shortcut
You should just be able to typoe the label text just after pressing the CTRL+M - it will help if you have zoomed out a bit first so that the cursor movement doesn't push your label of the screen window. It's a bit easier in 1.3, but it does work in 1.2 - I just tested it.

Re: Can't Use Input/Output Volume Controls
The input slider only works on the recording - not on subsequent editing. The output slider controls the signal sent to your loudspeakers/headphones. And yes, use the Amplify effect. If you want to get tricksy and vary the amplification applied at different points, you can use the Envelope tool (ico...

Re: Making a podcast of a radio programme
I'm thinking you must mean to put both ends of the RCA into the UA-1EX, input and output respectively. I've now done that, but can't get it to record through Audacity. Yes, the left in to the left out and the right in to the right out Here's what I've done: Set Audacity preferences Audio I/O to Edi...

Re: Slow Forum
Loading the site fore the first time is still slow - but I also note two other activities that take an awfully long time to load: the login and logout pages. Logout is painfully slow sometimes )to the extent that I often just close the window after clicking on the logout button).

Re: Making a podcast of a radio programme
If that is the Edirol UA-1EX (or similar) then what I do on my PCs to connect the Edirol to the PC via its USB plug and loop back the output RCA connector pair to the input pair with a cable with RCA plags at each end. The you have to get Audacity (and possibly your computer too) to rediredt it's so...
