I've missed all of the outage, as I have been withouut broadband, and hence t'interweb, for 15 days afer moving house!
But the initial load and logout, both of which could be very slow previously, now seem to be much snappier to load. So fingers crossed and let's hope it's fixed.

Re: Saving projects
When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name>_data 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure with lots of little .au files - segments of t...

Re: Minidisc Player with optical conection
<<<no metadata is sent over.>>> I still think that in a lot of these cases, there is no metadata to send. If you have a machine or service that can't connect to the internet to figure out the song names and artists, or, you haven't connected before with that particular album, you lose on sports cal...

Re: Minidisc Player with optical conection
My minidisc can be connected via an optical "cable" (@Koz: on end looks liks a 3.5mm jack and goes into one of the jack sockets on my external Edirol soundcard - before it's plugged in you can see the re light at the tip). @mac-Chatter: when I record this way (on a windows XP Pc) all that ...

Re: Sourcetrunk Podcast : a head start
1.) what do you use Audacity for ? To transcribe LPs tapes and minidiscs, record FM off-air (often with time-shift recording) and record streaming audio. Make WAV files to burn CDs and to load into iTunes/iPod as AAC. Occasional mic work for spoken word recordings 2.) where does Audacity really shi...

Re: USB sound card with decent Stereo Mix?
Indeed I do, that is when I want to record streaming audio - otherwise it is configured with the RCA input fed from whatever devive I am recording from (FM tuner, tapedeck - or TT&pre-amp)stevethefiddle wrote:And I presume that you have to use a loop-back lead with the Edirol UA-1EX ?
