Re: Mixer bar, Input grayed out.
You probably just need to rest your Preferences to default (this is easier in 1.3 as the developers then used a configuration file per user called audacity.cfg). In 1.2.x for Windows the preferences are stored in the registry. This thread contains a link to a registry edit fix which will just reset ...

Re: Improving quality of Poor Tape to CD Conversion
Yup the 21 day trial period should be plenty for those thre cassettes. I gave up on Audacity's click removal as i could never get it to work properly for me. When I was doing it manually I would play the recording until I heard a click and then zoom in to see the individual samples. Then selected th...
Re: saving
In 1.3 you can edit the genre list. Just go to File > Open Metadata Editor and in the Genres section (at the bottom left of the dialog box) click on the Edit button - and then away you go ....

Re: Improving quality of Poor Tape to CD Conversion
I used to remove ny clicks manually uing the tools in Audacity. In 1.2.x I just used to redraw the sample - and then in 1.3.x the developers introduced an exceelent new effect called Repair, which will fix up to 128 samples ny interpolating from neighbouring waveforms. This was very labour intensive...

Re: New USB sound but cant hear it
1. Now, I can only hear the sound when "record" is pressed in audacity. This is a real nuisance as I cant cue tracks before recording. Swiitching on/off playthrough doesnt help if its not recording There is a poorly documented feature of Audacity that enables you to monitor prior to recor...

I would recommend EXTREME CAUTION in linking to the site above. McAfee Site Advisor flgs it as potentially risky and says "Use Caution"

Re: Sample rate & file size issues
External hard drives are pretty good for backup storage (not infallible though - they can sometimes break) and are available in very large sizes at fairly low prices. I can certainly confirm this - my 1TB RAID external disk failed after just 3 months recently (the supplier/manufacturer did replace ...

I personally am not skilled at this sort of editing but ther are other posters on this board who should be able to suggest a method for you in due course.

<<<Is there a way on this forum to indicate that a topic has been resolved?>>> Not a formal way, no. It usually peters out by itself when somebody posts and says the problem has been fixed. Re: Export File information
I moved this post from the 1.2 section to here in the 1.3 section where it belongs. I encounter no problems in using Audacity 1.3.x in exporting WAV files. But I do have that metatag data request. turned off in my preferences. To do tsis go to Edit > Preferences > Import/Export and un-check the box ...
