Re: Problems with voice recording
Colin, I have just tested similar on my Windows laptop Windows XP-PRO, which has an inbuilt mic and a Realtek soundcard and it all works fine so I'm a little puzzled about yours. My interface is a different to yours, the laptop cam preconfigured with a tool called the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the...

Re: Using Audacity to slow down playback
You can do it in 1.2 with the Effect > Change Speed select the audio and then apply this effect . But it's much easier to do in the Beta 1.3 version of Audacity where the developers have introduced a new toolbar called the Transcription Toolbar . This enables you to play the audio at different speed...

Re: How to replace waveforms with no sound
How do I replace waveforms with no sound for example in the beginning or toward the end? You can select the section that you wish to silence (click & drag with the cusrsor to select) - and then use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+L to turn the selected section to silence. But better would be to fade...

Re: trouble getting right recording volume with 1.3.5
No on the contrary - you should b able to control the amplitude from you PC in software. What you get depends on your particular PC and sound card. My soundcard happens to be a Realtek - so the PC came configured with the Realtek HD Audio Manager. You should find an icon that will let you get at the...

Re: How do I export and mixdown only some of the tracks.
Yes and yes, I do use Roxio to burn my CDs - it works well. Ensure that you export the WAVs as 44.1kHz 16-bit stereo (the Red Book standard for CDs)
And do make sure that you burn a Music CD and not a Data CD - and do use good quality CD-Rs and not CD-RWs

Re: Left Audacity Recording Overnight, Now I Can't Save!
You may be able to salvage this project - BUT be warned that crash recovery is not as good in 1.2 than it is in 1.3. You will need to force udacity to close - try using the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DELETE). Then see this tutorial in the Wiki: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashR...

try to be a little patient, there are not that many helper elves on this forum - and they span several time-zones around the world, not all awake at the same time :) First question- have you run out of disk space on your hard drive? It sounds as though you may have done - have a look with windows e...

Re: How do I export and mixdown only some of the tracks.
allen's recipe will work if you want to produce a single WAV file without any track breaks. But iff you do want to create separate tracks on the CD then what you should do is select each track you don't want - select by clicking and dragging with the cursor and the Delete the track. Then label the r...
