Re: PLEASE HELP ME! I AM BEGGING YOU!
You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support . Audacity Supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC & MP2 in 1.3. If this is the case you have two basic options: 1. find and use some converter software to convert your file to a type that Audacity supports 2. play the ...

Re: Stylus is scratching vinyl?
The headshell/cartridge assembly may be badly adjusted. You may have a duff stylus (in the old days hi-fi shops used to have a microscope to examine your stylus). The stylus may have crud/pet-hair on it. Or you may just have some knackered vinyl that was previously damaged.

Re: ION turntable - not receiving sounds
USB devices have a habit of hijacking the entire sound – output as well as input – and they don’t tend to have loudspeakers (hence “no sound”). What you need to do is to direct the Windows sound output to your PC's soundcard Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio>Sound Playback - and make this...

..... and then repair the transitions where the edit points were (with the "Repair" effect). Note to original poster: the Repair effect is only available in the Beta versions 1.3.x and not the "stable 1.2.x versions. However note that 1.2.6 is now fairly ancient and 1.3.7 is pretty m...

Re: missing selection bar
Julie, a workaround for you would be to search t'interweb for a standalone MP3 converter (you should be able to find a free one - you can even use iTunes which is free to download to do the conversion ). You would then need to export your tracks as WAV files and then pass them through the converter....

Re: Sound Card Reviews - Edirol UA-1EX
Edirol UA-1EX External USB soundcard (which is also ASIO compatible - but this will not work with Audacity) interface capable of 24-bit/96kHz operation (the sampling rate is switchable 32/44.1/48/96 kHz - the bitrate is also switchable betwwen 24-bit and 16-bit). In addition to RCA and S/PDIF input...

Re: Wave Out Mix?
This does not usually work on lap-top computers other than Macs. But you can workaround this by buying an external USB soundcard (like the Behringer UCA202 or the Edirol UA-1EX and looping back the outputs to the inputs on that device. Ironically, my newer laptop supports recording of streamed audi...

Re: MP3 playback lower quality compared to playing on Audaci
.... I read that i-tunes only accepts MP3 format - doh! Rich Don't know where you read that - iTunes will happily accept WAV files and it can convert WAV files to Apple's own AAC format (which is what I do with my Audacity exports => iTunes/iPod). Bitrate for bitrate AAC is generally reckoned to pr...
