Re: Recording my own audio book
Jen, since your delivery device is an iPod, why are you using MP3? Why not export from Audacity as uncompressed WAV and then import into your iTunes library as AAC? Bitrate for bitrate (and size for size) AAC is reckoned to deliver better audio than MP3. You would only need MP3 if you want/need to d...

Re: Bug in "timer record"
Where do you report bugs? Currently on the Audacity Wiki - But I've started thinking about a process for moving real bugs (sometimes folks report things that aren't actually bugs) over to the Wiki from here. I had this same problem. It straddled midnight. It's odd as this is not consistent for me -...

Re: Recording LPs with Audacity Question
The problem that you may encounter while playing the LP (on loudspeakers) while recording is that you may get a little audio feedback through the cartridge - particularly if you play it lound and your record deck is not very acousically insiulated. (However, having said that - I do play mine while r...

Re: Recording my own audio book
I was hoping Audacity would let me add a label at any point during a recording. It may still and I just haven't figured out how to do it. @Koz: It does allow you to do that - just type CTRL+M and Audacity will lay down a marker (actually a label) at the current position. @Jen - use the CTRL+M marke...

Re: set recording length
Yes indeed, there is a timer in 1.3.x - don't be too wary of using the beta 1.3 version 1.3.7 is fairly mature now and pretty stable - I use it all the time.

Re: can't get usb input to work
Windows (and therefore Audacity) should just recognize the USB device when you just plug it in. You are using a direct USB input and not a USB hub, right? TRy unplugging the USB plug and re-plugging, or just wiggle it gently. Try a different USB port on your PC. Try plugging and then re-booting. Try...

Re: Audacity combined with Fruity Loops cause problems
I have no experience of Fruity Loops - but I suspect that a USB soundcard may help you - I use a USB soundcard to record streaming audio (But do make sure when you buy it that you can get your money back if it doesn't work). See this sticky thread for reviews of USB soundcards that are known to work...

Re: try again: MP3 exporting plugin not found
Glad you got it working - but your posting begs a question. If you are using iPods, why are you exporting to MP3? Why don't you export from Audacity as WAV and import those into iTunes as AAC (Apple's own proprietary format)? Bitrate for bitrate (and size for size) AAC is generally reckoned to offer...

Re: exporting edited MP3
No you can't get around this with Audacity. When you import the MP3 into Audacity it "adds water" to create an Audacity project. And as you correctly say when you edit and then later re-export to Mp3 you are degrading the sound quality further by adding additional compression. There are ap...
