Re: Error Recording - error opening sound device
When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name>_data 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure with lots of little .au files - segments of t...

Re: How does a .wav audio file being filtered
AFAIK a WAV file is not filtered when it is imported Audacity. Audcacity reads in the WAV file and converts it into an Audacity Project. Note carefully that an Audacity is not a file but rather a collection of files: 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the sam...

Re: Are saved WAV files diminished?
My understanding is that if you have set Audacity to work at 16-bit and export to 16-bit WAV, then the WAV will have the same quality as the Audacity project. If you leave your Audacity preferences set to the default 32-bit floating, then when you export to 16-bit WAV Audacity will apply a process c...

Re: No waveform being recorded
I have a Realtek HD in my Dell laptop. It came delivered with a software tool installed in the system tray in the bottom right-hand corner to manage the Realtek device. You can configure it to control the input levels and the input devices (and more besides). This thread shows an image of my Relatek...

Re: Sound Card Reviews - Edirol UA-1EX
Does this Edirol device work using the generic USB Audio Class drivers built into the OS? Yes, I use it with the standard drivers that came with XP on both my PCS (one is XP-HE and t'other is XP-PRO). My understanding is that you only need the Edirol drivers if you want to drive the soundcard at it...
