Re: Garbled Menus and text
To change the language use: Edit>Preferences - Edit is the second command in from top left, then Preferences is the bottom selection in the drop-down list. Then you need the Interface tab, which is the third one in from the right. Language is selected from the only drop-down list in the dialogue box...

Re: 2 quick volume-related questions
1) How do I lower the volume of a specific part of a track? like if I want to lower the volume of the music track in the parts where I'm talking. A couple of ways: 1) you could just select the section of audio and then use the Amplify effect to reduce the volume. This may give you a noticeable volu...

Re: amplification closes Audacity
I suggest you try using the Beta version - despite the "unstable" label given to it 1.3.7 is now pretty stable and mature now. And if I have read a posting on the French section of the forum then it looks like 1.3.7 will be the last beta to be produced and the developers work on a Release ...

Re: I LOST MY ACTIVATION CODE!!!
Audacity is a totally free piece of open source software - which can be downladed free from here: http://audacityteam.org/ the only thing you have to be creful of is that if you have pop-ups disabled then the Audacity download can be hidden until you enable it (plus the fact that the pagecontains ad...

Re: MP3
It's basically just down to licensing restrictions - Aaudacity would have to pay Steinberg (who owns the IPR) to actually directly build MP3 encoding in to the software. And the amount would not be insignificant amounts of dollars .... So we allput up with this slightly round about way of doing thin...

Re: sombody help me please.. !!!!!!!!!
Although you may thinks you have de-installed Audacit, itw will howver leave behind your set Preferences. In 1.2 the Preferences are held in the Windows Registry - in 1.3 a file is created called audacity.cfg to store the preferences. You can clean the registry of the audacity entries if you are con...

Re: Too many files
When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name>_data 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure with lots of little .au files - segments of t...

Re: No-destructive editing?
No - it will import the audio into it's own project format and on completion of editing you would need to export to MP3 - and this will create further compression. IIRC there are some simple MP3 editors that will do what you describe (simple cutting) working directly on the MP3 - have a quick Google...

I wasn't to know that i was using shoestring 3rd party Freeware) i would gladly PAY for something that WORKS. my time is precious, and this nonsense isn't quality time. It's done on far from shoestring - the developers are gifted professional folks who give there time freely to produce this open so...
