Re: Recording LP to CD
Most older TTs tend not to have preamps built in - they only started building them in when amps started being made with no phono input (sometime after the advent of CDs when the manufactureres assumed that vinyl would just disappear :D ). If you dont have the RIAA equalization applied (via a preamp)...

Re: Recording LP to CD
In which case you might want to consider an external soundcard - see this sticky thread for reviews of ones that are known to work with audacity: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477 Just a thought: you are passing the signal from the TT through a phono preamp - or your TT has...

Re: Clipping
If you have no volume comtrol on the TT - and if you are handy with a soldering iron - then this thread http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5080 has a response some way down fro Mikeymike which tells how to build an inline volume control.

Re: COULD NOT OPEN Mp3 ENCODING LIBRARY
If you really can't get it to work (I know from reading other threads that lately there have been some conflicts bewteen Audacity and Lame versions - but I thought the developers had fixed all that) - then a suitable workaround would be to export as WAV and then find yourself a standalone WAV to MP3...

Re: Removing Part of a Vocal
The only case in which you might be able to work it is if the two speakers were at the far extremes of the L & R stereo channels - but I'm guessing this is unlikely ...

Re: Increase volume without clipping?
Have you tried using the Amplify effect? Just select all the audio (CTRL+A will select the left - as will clicking in the Track Control Panel). The use Effect > Amplify - it will calculate a default level to get you to 0db, but personally I would choke that back a little to say -6db. Then do your WA...

Re: Recording LP to CD
I would (and indeed do) use Amplify and not Normalize. This is because Normalise works independently on each of the stereo tracks and brings each L & R up to the same level - theus the stereo balance and the stereo image can be destroyed. There has been much discssion on this topic in other thre...
