Re: recoding tracks from a cassette
Sadly no. Many years ago I had assembled a reasonable collection of 78s, painstakingly collected from jumble sales etc. - but when I left home to go to University my parents kindly threw all my stuff out, including my 78s :o :x As you can see I still feel the pain of loss, even after all these years...

Re: recoding tracks from a cassette
When I xfrd my tapes I had the project rate at 44.1kHz abd left the Audacity default of 32-bit floating for capture and edit (stereo of course). On Export, I exported to WAV using Audacity to downample at 44.1kHz 16-bit stereo (CD Red Book standard). Just the same settings that I used for my LP xfrs...

the option 'Make a copy of uncompressed audio files before editing (safer)'.... Uli, and they do mean safer, much safer Many people fall into the beartrap of not using this safer option - and then later when they move/delete the original source (say by taking the CD out of the tray - or by doing so...

Re: Audacity 1.3.7 beta: out of commision?
I am puzzled - what do you mean out of commission? :? Audacity is not a cloud-based application that requires a remote server/web-site to be up nad running. Once you have downloaded Audacity onto your computer and got it running then it should stay available on your computer (unless you, or some aut...

and will see if I can make the simple device that I saw, but with a USB output. Sorry, I don't think that you will succeed in this - as by the time your TT has sent the signal out of the USB services h/w in your TT the signal has already been digitized. I should not have raised your hopes with my e...

Re: Precision Pasting
I'm not sure the "stickiness" of labels is a feature of 1.2 (I just tested on my old copy of 1.2 that I keep for testing and I couldn't make it work there). It certainly works in 1.3.

Re: Audacity What U Hear Question?
In most jusrdictions the answe would be no - not leagal. But many people do this and if it's for your own private use you're not likely to be caught. However ... if you use this recording to fileshare with others or make a commercial CD for sale then the owners of the IPR and copyright may well noti...

You'll have to get it from Extreme Pro Speed Download ... Audacity is a totally free piece of open-source software distributed under the GNU Feneral Public License (see: http://audacityteam.org/about/ ). Unfortunately in order to fund this the Audacity site has to carry a few adverts - incautious us...

Re: Export Multiple to iTunes
dapper, All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down) to export a multiple set of WAVs, MP3s or whate...

Re: Plugin layouts?
No, you would need to download 1.3.6 if that is still available anywhere - or if you kept the installation files. But note that 1.3.6 is buggier than 1.3.7. For 1.3.7 the developers reverted to the older list layout (which some of us users prefer). See this thread for a little more insight: http://a...
