Re: audio book - how to add on after pressing Stop?
You can record this on multiple stereo tracks, just make sure they line up one after t'other - when uou Export the project to Wav/MP3 Audacity will Quickmix (renamed to Mix&Render in 1.3) the mutiple tracks into a single stereo pair. In 1.3 the task is easier as the developers have added soem ne...

Re: Songs abruptly end in iTunes
If you have any tips regarding MP3 burn to CD I'd appreciate it. I would probably just use Windows Media Player. To burn a "proper" CD you will need to export not MP3 files bt WAV files with the settings that Koz suggested 44.1kHz, 16-bit PCM stereo (the Red Book standard for PCs). Some C...

Re: Creating a simple action
Don't be put off by the "unstable" labelling of the Beta 1.3 - 1.3.7 is fairly mature now and relatively stable I would advise using 1.3 over 1.2 (note that you can have both on your machine at the same time - but you can't run them botha at the same time - and note too that 1.2 projects c...

Re: Recording mystery
You haven't really given us enough information for us to work on - but my guess is that you are getting a mono recording of only one (left or right) channel of the stereo.
Make sure that you have set up your Audacity preferences to record 2-Channel (stereo).

Re: Songs abruptly end in iTunes
I will try to export as WAV and then import to iTunes as AAC to see how that goes. I have two approaches for getting my recordings into iTunes: 1) for my LPs I produced CDs and the ripped them into iTunes in the normal way by loading the CD. In about 2/3 of the cases the "CD" was recogniz...

Re: Songs abruptly end in iTunes
After that, Export As WAV or Export Multiple -- WAV. iTunes carries its own import data compression and presenting it with MP3 is double compression with sound damage at each step. I agree with Koz' suggestion that you should Export as WAV and then import that into iTunes as AAC (Apple's proprietar...

Re: Mic Failure
Windows elf here - but I'm stumped by this.
A thought: do you have or can you borrow another PC to plug your mic into and see if it works on the second PC - if it does then it will rule out a problem with the mic.

Specifically, six: 1)Move cursor to start of track, 2)Move cursor to end of track You can Tab to the next label, proideed your cursor focus is in the label track and not the music track - IMHO it works better in 1.3.x than it does in 1.2.zx (labelling overall is much improved in 1.3) 5)Select from ...

Re: Best way to mark tracks of old family recordings?
Koz' advice on archival and CD/DVD life are well put - and for longevity of storage his advice is sound. But back to your original question: yes you can create a label at each point you want to identify the start of a speaker. To facilitate keeping these in the right order I would suggest labelling ...
